Deacon Eugene McKinnie,

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church 104 S. 10th Street. Pastor Roy L. Manning will officiate with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m. Our dear loved one, Deacon Rufus Eugene McKinnie, Sr., was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 11, 2008. Rufus was born March 13, 1950 in Memphis, TN, the third child of seventeen born to Walter and Lorine (Marable) McKinnie. Deacon McKinnie professed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was currently a member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI where he was actively involved in several ministries and activities including, the Deacon Board, Trustee, Church Finance Committee, Church School Superintendent, Church Security Guard, Mission, Sunday School and Brotherhood Teacher and a former member of the Corinthian Male Chorus. Rufus retired from the GM Powertrain Saginaw Metal Casting Operations after 40 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #668. There are those who shall always remember and cherish Rufus. He leaves to honor the legacy of his life, his loving wife of thirty years, Glenda Fay; one son, Rufus E. Jr. (Tamara) McKinnie of Tacoma, WA; four daughters, Ashley McKinnie of Atlanta, GA, Ruquel McKinnie of Detroit, MI, Ebony McKinnie of Flint, MI and Estrella McRae of Saginaw, MI; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. He also leaves his mother, Lorine McKinnie; sixteen siblings, Willie L. (Louise) McKinnie, of Saginaw, MI, Jerry J. McKinnie, William A. (Pauline) McKinnie, Rickie McKinnie, Eddie Gene, Sr. (Kay) Mckinnie, and Willie James McKinnie, all of Whiteville, TN, Donald Ray McKinnie of Lake Charles, LA, Linzell McKinnie and Fitzgerald McKinnie, both of Grand Rapids, MI, Glendale McKinnie of Atlanta, GA, Robert E. Dotson of Gary, IN. Earline McGuire of Flint, MI, Tommie Lue (John) Dawkins and Pearl A. McKinnie both of Nashville, TN, Margaret S. McKinnie of Whiteville, TN and Deborah M. (Freddie) Dunn of Atlanta, GA; god-children, Leon Pritchett, Jr. of Saginaw, MI, Justin and Jonathan Wicker of Rochester, MI; a myriad of loving nieces and nephews; a vast array of relatives and caring friends, several dear and devoted friends, including Samuel, Sr. (Jimmie M.) Logan, Leon, Sr. (Brenda) Pritchett, Walter (Dorothy) Harris and John Hall. Deacon McKinnie was preceded in death by his father, Walter McKinnie; grandmother, Pankie McKinnie and his father and mother-in-law, Willie and Rosie Hemphill.
