Mr. Dearl Clyde Strother, Jr.

Mr. Dearl Clyde Strother, Jr. was born July 6, 1945 to the late Dearl Clyde Strother, Sr. and Henrietta (Jacobs) Strother in Saginaw, MI. He passed away on February 26, 2017 at the age of 71. Everyone who knew him affectionately referred to him as Clyde. Clyde was educated in Saginaw Public Schools. When Clyde worked he was employed by Hoyt Public Library as a Book Transporter. He was also very handy-doing odd jobs, putting things together, and painting. He was extremely helpful and very creative. He enjoyed helping other people and was known to give others his last. Clyde was adventurous, daring and always up for a challenge. He loved anything shiny; fast-bikes, old cars, and motorcycles. Clyde liked to have a good time. He liked going for rides as well as sitting outside with friends and family. He also enjoyed singing along to “oldies but goodies,” and drinking on a “cold one.” Clyde always knew the word of God and professed his love for “the Man upstairs.” He was a lifelong member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church. Clyde was very unique and extremely particular. He was meticulous with the way he organized his things and how he wore his hat. Clyde also had a sense of humor and made up words that he coined as his own. He will be greatly missed by his five children, Brian Foster of Snellville, GA, Shontee McMillan of Baltimore, MD, Chaka McMillan, Darryl Ballard and Devan Howard, all of Saginaw, MI. He also leaves to cherish his memory, six grandchildren, Kayla McMillan, Dimetri Wells, Jr. and Destiny Wells all of Saginaw, MI and Keyona Jones, Abriauna and Niya Foster all of Lithonia, GA; two great-grandchildren, London and Kaden both of Lithonia, GA; siblings, Marlyn Buggs, Clifton (Annie) and Guy (Jackie) Strother, all of Saginaw, MI; special cousins/God-sisters, Sandra Mason, Marie Ann Richards, and Eileen Watson, all of Saginaw, MI; special niece, Brigitte (Leonard) Johnson of Stanford, VA; special nephews, Robert “Moochie” and Clifton “Moon” Strother both of Muskegon, MI and Anthony Strother of Saginaw, MI; special friends, Anthony Balls, Jeffery Bates, William “Hip Cat” Batts, Patricia Braggs, Richard Lewis, and Calvin White; and a host of other friends and family. Clyde was preceded in death by many friends and family members including, grandparents, Guy (Mary) Jacobs and Harry (Phebe) Strother; Godparents, Harold (Hattie) Strother; special cousin, Donnie Strother; brother-in-law, Carl Buggs; step-son, Brian McMillan Mannie. The family would like to extend special thanks to, Linda and Sylvester Howard, and the staff at Samaritas Senior Living Center and Reverence Hospice Care. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.
