Mrs. Delaine Layton

On Wednesday, October 7, 2015, God outstretched his loving arms and welcomed our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousins, fiancée and friends, Delaine Layton home. Delaine was born on May 26, 1952 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of Leo and Florida Laury. She was raised by Walter and Artia Laury known to her as mom & dad. Delaine came to know and accept the Lord at an early age and was currently a member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. She was a proud student of Saginaw High School. “Class of 1970” on May 13, 1978, she married Clarence Williams “CW” Layton. Who passed away on Oct. 26, 1998. Known by many for her soft voice and beautiful smile, her memory will be forever etched in the hearts and minds of those who loved her. Delaine Layton leaves to cherish her memory; two children, Artia D. Layton (Derrick Byrd) and Clarence William Layton II; two grandchildren whom she cherished deeply, Madison De’Arie Byrd and Raegan Shavon Byrd; fiancée, John McGee; sisters, Georgia (Leo) Hemphill, Erica Laury and Marion Donald, all of Saginaw, MI; brothers, Elston (Yvonne) Laury of San Francisco, CA, Darnell (Linda) Laury of Tyler, TX and Jeff Laury of Saginaw, MI; sisters-in-law, Jackie (Mark) Oates and Brenda Laury; brother-in-law, Howard Bennett, all of Saginaw, MI; special friends, Mildred (Johnnie) Bradshaw, Milwaukee, WI; goddaughters, Arieana Hemphill of Farmington Hills, MI and Teresa Bradshaw of Milwaukee, WI. Mrs. Layton was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence “CW” Layton; parents; brothers, Leo and Leon Laury; sisters, Linda Hightower, Cleo Laury Bennett and Lola Laury The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mr. John McGee for always putting a smile on her face. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 North 6th Avenue. Dr. Marvin T. Smith will officiate, with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. Family will be present from 6-8 p.m. for family hour.
