Mr. Dennis Gibson

Mr. Dennis Gibson passed away Saturday, June 27, 2020 at the age of 61 years. He was born on March 8, 1959 the youngest son of Herbert Gibson, Sr. and Ada Frances Hoover Gibson. Dennis attended Jones Elementary School. In his early years he was challenged with a slight speech impediment which he over came and moved on to complete his middle school years at Central Jr. High School. Dennis though an average student had a very creative nature which was later acknowledged after his high school graduation from Saginaw High School, “Class of 1977.” As learning about God and His importance in life was a family requirement, he attended Allen Temple A.M. E. under the leadership of Min. Susan Moten. Dennis was baptized at the age of eight by Rev. John Clark of Corinthian Baptist Church. He later became a member of Truevine Baptist Church where his mother was a long-time member and his father joined later under the leadership of Pastor R.B. Corley. Dennis was in the Jr. Chorus and later joined the Young Adult Chorus which he loved. Weekly Sunday School and summer Vacation Bible School was a core source for the teachings of God. As Dennis met with challenges in his adolescent years as noted through his encounters with thwarting authority, he was still able to accomplish competing a cosmetology curriculum with successful completion and licensure. He completed a partial curriculum in Barber education with multiple positions in his field supported by Carlean of Carlean’s Beauty School and Salon, Regency Beauty Salon, both of which were very supportive of his career endeavors. Mr. Dennis Gibson leaves to cherish his memory: father, Herbert Gibson, Sr.; brother, Herbert Gibson, Jr. (Lenora); two sisters, Patricia A. (Melvin) Washington and Nanette (Clifford, Sr.) Gibson-Davis; special friend who loved him as a son, Marie Matthews; sisters/friends, Carla Jones and Elnora Matthews (Joe) Washington; five nephews, Herbert Gibson III, Clifford Davis, Jr., Dr. Jesse (Dr. Matifadza) Davis, Brandon Washington and Blake Washington; seven nieces, Kellee Davis, Joetta Reed, Brittany Washington, Angela Davis, Keirra Jones, Keandra Jones and Sharmese Gibson; five great-nieces, Shyrell Gibson, Amari Gibson, Journey Gibson, Aneni and Naniso Davis; great-nephew, Josiah Gibson; Dennis is survived and joined in his homegoing celebration by a host of cousins, other family and friends. Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by his mother, Ada F. Gibson; brother, Scott A. Gibson; grandparents, Maebell and Joe Gibson and Octoria and Britten Hoover; significant aunt, Odean Johnson. Visitation will take place from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2020, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. A private funeral service will be held. Dr. Willie F. Casey will officiate.
