Devin "Von" Jevon Hollis

Devin Jevon Hollis, our pillar of strength, our force, peace and source of energy was chosen by God on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in Snellville, GA. Von was born on December 19, 1969 to Thomas and Mary Hollis. He graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1988. At an early age, his mother introduced him to the understanding of Christianity. Von worked for Wolverine Human Services, where he was a loyal worker for 15 years. Von was a loving father, devoted brother, a role model to many children and a confidant to many who were blessed by his presence. Von coached the “Friends Offering Hope” (FOH) Eagles with Kevin Marshall. He also coached the Central Football Team. Surviving to cherish his memory is one son, Jevon Hollis, Houston, TX; two sisters, Deirdre Hollis-Smith and Devona Hollis, both of Lawrenceville, GA; one niece, Amaria Smith, Lawrenceville, GA; one nephew, Thomas Smith, Lawrenceville, GA; special aunts, Gracie Witherspoon who was also his Godmother, Shender (Regimond) McKinney and Becky (Luther) Petty, Jr., all of Saginaw, MI; special uncle, Charles Hollis, Saginaw, MI; uncle, Cecil (Renee) Hollis, Saginaw, MI; great-uncle, Royal Lee Holley, Saginaw, MI; adopted son, Lawrence (Boo) Bell, Houston, TX; adopted granddaughter, Brianna Bell, Houston, TX; God-brother, Robert Cook, Escanaba, MI; God-sisters, Sheena Flemming, Camesha Hoffman and Rhonda Warren, all of Saginaw, MI; God-children, Ayana Lett, Detroit, MI and Semaj Mounger, Saginaw, MI; special cousins, Tonja Brown, who was also his Godsister, and Kendra Warren, both of Saginaw, MI, Rapheal Hill of Georgia, Lacretia (Darrell) Usher, Conyers, GA and Juan (Bricky) Walker of Florida; cousins, Ethel, Regina, Khalia, Reginald Warren and Drayne Terry, all of Saginaw, MI, Nicquel Terry of New Jersey and Peggy (Hinton) Lucas of North Carolina; his extended family, Angela Foster, Detroit, MI, Kevin Lett, Norcross, GA and Alfredo Buckley of Georgia; FOH (brothers), Andre Walton, Ft. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2014 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street. Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
