Diane Short

" Everything must change - nothing stays the same." Diane passed away peacefully on Friday, April 13, 2012 at St. Mary's of Michigan. Diane was born July 14, 1948 in Saginaw, MI to Lorenzo Short and Mamie Oretha Moton Short. She was preceded in death by her father. Diane was educated in the Saginaw Public School system, graduating from Saginaw High School in the class of 1966. She received her B.A. degree from Fisk University in 1970. She attended Texas Southern Law School and received her Masters Degree from the University of Detroit in guidance and counseling. She retired in 2008 from Delta College, where she was director of the Multi-Cultural Center. Upon retiring she became CEO and President of the Counseling Education Center. Diane was an active participant at the First Ward Community Center, where she was one of the sponsors of the "Taste of Soul" and Young Champions (a youth mentoring program). She dedicated her life to the care of children and older people. Diane was a faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, P. David Saunders, Pastor. She was affectionately called "Miss Diane", "Lady Di" and "The Coordinator". She was admired for her beautiful and unique earrings and her fabulous hats. She leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Mamie O. Short; aunts, Rosena Ford, Leonzy Porter, Frances M. (John) Carter, Ruby Faith Clark and Beulah Bolton, all of Saginaw, MI, Annie Mae Short, Bonnie Jean Kimble, Eddye Pearl Cunningham, Dorothy Jean Cunningham, Daisy Lee Cunningham, Evelyn Tuggles and a special cousin,Annette Thompson, all of Los Angeles, CA; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends, Lucy Cain, Dallas, TX, Tara Woodward, Flint, MI, Patricia Terrell, St. Petersburg, FL, Marion Hardaway, Saginaw, MI, Hill family and Hall family. Diane requested that there be no formal funeral service. A private family service will be held at a later date. The family would like to express a special thanks to St. Mary's of Michigan medical staff for the beautiful care rendered to Diane during her brief stay and to Hospice Advantage for their care, comfort and compassion to the whole family. "Que' Sera Sera", whatever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see, "Que' Sera Sera"
