Mrs. Dorothy Foster

Dorothy Jean Foster made her transition to her eternal home in heaven on March 8, 2023 at the age of 75 years. Dorothy was born on March 26, 1947 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Detroit and Leida Epperson. After graduating in 1965 from Coleman High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. Dorothy decided to follow in the footsteps of several of her siblings and move to Saginaw, Michigan. She worked many jobs including elevator operator at Heavenrich Bros. & Company, Rainbow Bread and Dow Corning from where she retired. Dorothy attended Delta College and was also a graduate of Agape Bible School. Dorothy was a devoted Christian who truly loved the Lord. She served the Lord by teaching Sunday School, for both youth and Senior Adults and also served as chair of the Trustee Board. She was a member of Faith Harvest Church. Dorothy loved her family and especially loved spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping and traveling. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 56 years, Robert Foster; two daughters, Yolonda Renea (Jacob) Mosby of Orlando, FL and Romonica (Dale) Ruffin of Ypsilanti, MI; four grandchildren, Jacob Mosby III, Kyndall Mosby, Isaiah Ruffin and Xavier Ruffin; three sisters, Jessie Newson and Geraldine Doxie both of Saginaw, MI and Laverne (Mike) Davis of Little Rock, AR; eight sisters-in-law, Betty Epperson and Cora (Clarence) Burkes both of Saginaw, MI, Annie Jean (Joseph) Johnson of Vicksburg, MS, Shirley (Donald) Garrett of Shreveport, LA, Helen Turner, Therolene (Charlie) Phillips, Earnestine Gavin and Sallie Foster all of Birmingham, AL; one brother-in-law, Jerry (Deborah) Foster of Birmingham, AL. She also leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a special nephew, Roderic McCulloh who was more like a son, a special godson, Maurice Hopgood and special friend, Shirley Bradley. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Detroit and Leida Epperson; her daughter, Dr. Tanya Denise Foster; two brothers, Joseph Epperson and Ardell Epperson; two sisters, Lenora McCulloh and Lena Mae Webb. The family would like to express special appreciation to Tim and Rachel Pecura and the caregivers of Serene Unity Home Care, in Plymouth, Michigan. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 at Faith Harvest Church, 1734 N. Mason St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Bishop Ronald Chipp will officiate with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 4865 N. Center, Saginaw, MI 48638. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2023 from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Evans & Browne's.
