Mrs. Dorothy Mae Marselis

Our beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and cousin Mother Dorothy Mae Marselis peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Thursday June 29, 2017 at Toni and Trish Comfort Home in Auburn, Michigan at the age of 68 years. She was born November 25, 1948 in Caruthersville, Missouri, the daughter of the late Dewitt Campbell and Lillie (Pitts) Burns. She was united in Holy matrimony to the love of her life Reubin for 24 years, who took excellent care of her until her untimely death. Dorothy was extremely active and a God fearing and faithful member of Victorious Believers Ministries, until she became too ill to attend. Mother Marselis loved to attend Sunday school, along with being a Greeter, a member of the Mother’s Board, Nursing Home Ministry and helping with the Kitchen Committee. She was employed briefly with Saginaw Parts Plant and retired with 20 years of service from 7-Eleven. Mother Dorothy graduated from Washington High School in Caruthersville, Missouri. She loved cooking and made the best cheese cake you ever want to taste. Dorothy loved helping people anyway she could and had a special love for her grandchildren and her daughters Paquita and Andrea. Mother Dorothy Mae Marselis leaves to cherish her fond and loving memories: her husband, Reubin L. Marselis; daughters, Paquita Campbell and Andrea Laury, all of Saginaw, MI; daughter-in-law, Debbie Campbell; sister, Geraldine Riley of Chicago, IL; four brothers, Dewitt (Toni) Campbell of Marshall, MO, Robert Campbell of Grand Rapids, MI, Dan (Etta) Burns and Leon (Dorothy) Burns, both of Saginaw, MI; five sisters-in-law, Bertha Marselis of Washington State, Lois Wicker of Atlanta, GA, Diana and Patty Burns and special sister-in-law, Rosalind (Lonnie) Scott, all of Saginaw, MI; eight grandchildren, Ashaute, Dez, Sharria, Brovice, Ajahlee, Carlos, Catera and Jaylen; three-great-grandchildren, Dez III, Alizah and Daylen; a host of nieces including special niece, Tina McMillon;, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Pastor Charlene Washington, Catherine Parm and Gloria Willis. Mother Marselis was preceded in death by her daughter, Raquel Campbell; son, Carlos Campbell; great-granddaughter, Azhariah McCray Laury; nine sisters, Ora Seales, Roberta Paige, Laura Burns, Irene Campbell, Margaret Pearson, Lenora Lewis, Mary Watson, Bernice Burns and Ida Caldwell; three brothers, Walter, Joe and Leonard Burns. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Victorious Believers C.O.G.I.C, 624 Outer Drive. Pastor Christopher Pryor, Host Pastor and Pastor Theodore Watson will officiate. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery 4200 Belford, Holly, MI 48442. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Family will be present to greet friends from 6-8:00 p.m.
