Mrs. Dorothy Owens-Harmon

Dorothy May (Atwater) Owens-Harmon was born July 12, 1939, to Harold and Genevieve Atwater in Bay City, Michigan. She fell asleep in death on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at the age of 85. As a young woman, in 1957, Dorothy married Joe B. Owens and lovingly raised 4 children. Later, in October 1999, she married Vernon Lee Harmon, and they were happily married for 22 years, before he preceded her in death on February 24, 2022. Dorothy was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on February 19, 1978. Serving her God Jehovah was the most important thing in her life. She was known for her sweet kindness and for baking treats to share with friends. Although shy, she had the gift of starting conversations to share the Bible’s message with the many people she met. Her faith and love for God was strong until the day she closed her eyes to rest and wait for the happy day when we will be reunited with her again. Until then, she will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends that she loved so dearly. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Lori J. (Owens) Leslie and her husband, Daniel L. Leslie; her oldest son, Scott M. Owens and his wife Marilyn (Lininger) Owens, and daughter-in-law Annette (Davis) Owens. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Ronald G. Atwater; two sisters, Toby and Arlene H. Atwater, and two beloved sons: Eric B. Owens and Joseph J. Owens. She is also survived by two stepsons, Vernon (Pam) Harmon Jr. and Michael Harmon, who were also very special to her. She was very happy around her six grandchildren, Jared (Emily) Owens, Amber (Arron) Hoffer, Jesse (Quinn) Owens, Aaron M. Owens, Adrian J. (Amber) Owens, and Aubrey J. Owens; six great grandchildren, Angelina Haley, Logan (Sirenatee) Owens, Hunter Owens, Mason Owens, Joshua Owens, Noah Owens, Lucas Owens and Layla Owens, and one great-great granddaughter, Vivianne Owens. Dorothy will never be forgotten by her very dear friends, who were also her family. We will all remember the warm smile she had for everyone, her love of children and babies, and her hospitable and generous spirit. The family would like to express special thanks to the entire Bridgeport Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for their loving support of Dorothy through the years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 2:30 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 7744 Dixie Highway, Bridgeport, Michigan 48722
