Mrs. Dorothy Jean Terrell

Mrs. Dorothy Jean “Big Time” Terrell, age 72 years of Bridgeport, Michigan passed away at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan on May 15, 2020. Dorothy was born on July 30, 1947 to James and Williease (Terry) Banks in Blytheville, Arkansas. She was married to Lionell Terrell, Sr. they were blessed with 45 years together. Mrs. Terrell was a loving, caring mother, wife, grandmother aunt and friend. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School in Saginaw, Michigan, “Class of 1966”. She was a resident of Bridgeport, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Saginaw Valley State College. Dorothy was employed by Saginaw County Human Services and as Assistant Payment Worker. She was then promoted to a Social Service Specialist Worker and continued on to be a Foster Care Worker and retired after 30 plus years as an Adoption Worker. Mrs. Terrell was a member of Saginaw Alumnae Chapter Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She was a member of A. Philip Randolph National and Tri-City Chapters of Black Social Workers. Mrs. Terrell was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church for many years under the leadership of Rev. R.B. Austin and Rev. T.J. London and served on the Nurses Guild and as Financial Treasurer. She later joined Zion Valley under the leadership of Pastor DeQuan Ford. Dorothy leaves to cherish sweet memories two sons, Lionell Terrell, Jr., Saginaw, MI and Bryant Terrell, Apopka, FL; a daughter, Felicia Phillips, Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Keenan Smith, Keenan Crayton, Brichanise Terrell, Savannah Blunt, Lionell Terrell III; two sisters, Willa Banks-Eli, Ella (Booker T) Marshall; brother, Willie Earl Banks; brother-in-law, Russell (Paula) Terrell; sisters in-law, Martha Lockhart, Bobby Jean Sowell, Thelma Irving and Catherine Simpson; nieces, Denise Roberts (Albert) Maynard, Tomika Morris, Dwana Banks and Leslie LaToya Banks; nephews, Darrin Banks and Marcus Lyons, a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Joyce Barlow, Annie Jackson, the Jones family, Mr. John, FeFe (Darnell) Green and Gibson family. Mrs. Terrell was preceded in death by her parents, James and Williease (Terry) Banks; her loving husband, Lionell Terrell, Sr.; brothers, James, Jr. and Leslie Banks; sisters-in-law, Mary Yvonne, Corrine and Betty Lee; brothers-in-law, Eugene, Sr., Louise, Sr., Richard and Harry. Visitation will take place from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. on Friday May 22, 2020 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. A private funeral service will be held with Pastor DeQuan Ford officiating with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. *******At Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, we value the safety and health of our customers, staff and the general public.
