Mrs. E. Christine Knuckles-Melton

Mrs. Ellen Christine (Knuckles) Melton was born on February 26, 1936 in Belleville, Arkansas to Mr. John W. and Mrs. Ruth (Williams) Knuckles. She passed away on March 12, 2022 at the age of 86 years. Christine Melton was a soft spoken, meek and gentle person. She loved dancing to the Motown sounds from the 60’s era. Later, she was also fond of singing the gospel quartet sounds. She was fond of dogs; her most favorite was “Rex”. Christine graduated, earning her GED from St. Joseph High Adult Education in Saginaw, Michigan. Mrs. Melton leaves to cherish her memory three daughters and five sons, Orita “Penny” Jackson, Dedra D. Richardson, Marilyn A. Reed, Jimmy L. Pearly, David Galloway, Marty Banks, Michael T. Banks and Jerome A. Banks; 40 grandchildren including two special granddaughters, LaShauna D. Mobley and Earlisha Richardson; one grandson, Jerome “J.J.” Banks; 20 great-grands including one special great-granddaughter, Evee’Shanae Copper; three sisters, Ceola Fredericks, Clinton Township, Clora Shivers, Arlington, TX and Mattie Taylor of Saginaw, MI; one brother, Lee Wesley (Louis); brother-in-law, Alvin Henix, Sr., Saginaw; nieces, Sherry Knuckles, CA, Ursula Jones-Williams, Atlanta, GA, Lisa Coney, Willie Lee Battles, Doris Henix Drain, Janece Jackson and many other nieces; nephews, Leonard Jones II, Quincy Jones, Atlanta, GA, Albert E. Taylor, Roy L. Knuckles, Anthony Knuckles all from California, Darnell Lowery, Texas, Homer D. Frederick, Jackie Knuckles, Wayne Jackson all of Saginaw and many others; special cousins, Judy B. Jackson, Saginaw and Jhonnie B. Knuckles, Oakland, CA; many other relatives and friends. Christine was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Knuckles; her husband, W.C. Melton; grandson, Devontae Banks; brothers, John Knuckles, Jr., Leroy, JT and Arthur Knuckles; sisters, Sara L. Henix, Margaret Jackson, Ruth Lowery and Beatrice Jones; sisters-in-law, Oretta Knuckles, and Elizabeth Knuckles; nieces and nephews. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 17, 2022, from the Chapel of Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48607. Pastor Alvin Henix, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Visitation will take place 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
