Mr. Earl Creston Tucker

Mr. Earl Creston Tucker, Sr. was born July 26, 1930 in Saginaw, MI the son of Stewart and Missouri (Ward) Tucker. He passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the age of 89 years. Mr. Tucker was a resident of Saginaw, MI and a graduate of Saginaw High School. He was married to Jessie M. Mathis for 49 years. She preceded him in death in 2006. He was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church from his childhood until his passing. Before he became ill, he served on many ministries including, Deacon, Treasurer, Finance Team, Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee, part-time Custodian, van driver and Senior Usher. He was also active in BTU, Sunday School and Laymen. Before retiring he was employed with the Saginaw Board of Education for 35 years as a Custodian. Most of his employment was done at Jones Elementary School where he was a friend and a listening ear to the students. He enjoyed watching TV, especially football, basketball, Tyler Perry shows, The Price Is Right and Jerry Springer. He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Theodoris (William) Ketchum and Valerie (Lee Roy) Evans; one son, Earl C. Tucker, Jr.; 14 grandchildren, Anthony Gilmore, Freeport, IL, Detrius (Kim) McCall, Kali McCall, John (Sara) Ketchum, all of Atlanta, GA, Nikitta Weaver, Cleveland, OH, Lisa McCall, Earl C. Tucker III, Michael D. Campbell, Walter Witherspoon, all of Saginaw, MI, Kourtnee Adams, Chesterfield, MI, Chyna Campbell, Kalamazoo, MI, William Ketchum III, New York, Christopher Evans and Leah Evans, both of Smyrna, TN; 18 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Lee Trapp; many nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Martha Wyatt; godson, Donavon Fleming; many other relatives and friends including a special friend, Lillie Strong. Mr. Tucker was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie M. (Mathis) Tucker; his parents, Stewart and Missouri Tucker; son, Caster Mathis; brothers, Warren, Robert, Oliver, Raymond and Lemuel Tucker; sister, Elva Bagley. The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Jane Castillo, Hospice and friends at Wescourt Retirement Home. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 N. 6th St., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Monday, from 2;00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will greet friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m.
