Mrs Eddie Alford-Young

Mrs. Eddie Lee Alford-Young passed away May 15, 2016 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi, on September 13, 1927 to Jessie James Thompson and Essie Thompson-Michaels. Eddie attended Riley Training School. She married E.S. Alford Sr. at the tender age of 18 with whom she had seven children. She lived in New Orleans for a little while before moving to Columbia, MS in 1964. In 1969 Eddie decided to relocate to the industrial north in Saginaw, MI where she would spend the remainder of her life. Eddie attended United Missionary Baptist Church in which she was the Mother of the Church. She loved church and made sure she always paid her tithes. Eddie enjoyed having family gatherings, cooking, going out to eat, doing crossword puzzles, traveling, listening to oldies and gospel music on the radio, and watching her favorite television shows. She loved her family and her family loved her. Eddie had a very laid back personality. She enjoyed listening as you talked and would talk when needed to talk. Eddie was very wise and extremely honest. In her later years she married Theodor Young and they remained married until the end of his life. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Essie (Sam) Taylor of Slidell, LA, Pearlie (Wilfred) Moody of Fayetteville, GA, Frances Ezell of Whitesboro, NY, Aaron, Alice and Mary Alford, all of Saginaw, MI; three brothers, Richard (Shirley) Thompson, Lucies (LD) Thompson of Slidell, LA, and Delassie Thompson of Holly Springs, MS; one sister Alice (Blanche) Thompson of New Orleans, LA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Eddie was preceded in death by her, son, Ellis Steve Alford Jr,; grandson, Dameon L. Alford; parents, Jessie James Thompson and Essie Thompson-Michaels; husbands, Ellis Steve Alford Sr. and Theodor Young; brothers, Jessie Bevins, Willie, Ralph, and Clarence Thompson; sisters, Josephine and Grace Thompson-Gray. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home for a phenomenal job, as well to Pastor Dale Tatum, Sr. and United Missionary Baptist Church family for being so great and special to our loved one. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016 at United Missionary Baptist Church, 4290 Lamson Street. Pastor Dale Tatum, Sr. will officiate. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
