Edward Hall,

With his family by his side, Edward "Ed" Hall Jr. passed away on Wednesday, July 4, at the age of 89, after a short illness. He was born on October 29, 1922 in Doster, Alabama, son of the late Edward and Tollie B. Hall Sr. He moved to Saginaw at a young age and graduated from Saginaw High School, class of 1939. In 1942, Ed married the late Helen E. Chapman-Hall. Later in life he enjoyed 25 years with his loving companion, the late Odessa Jones. Ed was proud veteran of WWII, having served throughout the European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaigns. During his time in the military, he earned 4 bronze stars. In 1946, he joined the ranks of GM and retired with 57 years of dedicated service (never missing a day) to the company and the UAW Local 668 union, of which he served as both Secretary and Treasurer. He was a faithful servant of St. Anthony's of Padua, having served in many capacities for over 60 years. He was a member of many local community organizations including, but not limited to, the Knights of Peter Claver, The Knights of Columbus, and Bd. member of the Francis Rey Academy. Ed leaves to cherish memories, three children, Cynthia and Demene Hall, both of Seattle, Washington, and Karen Hall, Santa Monica, CA; six step-children, Ernestine Ray, Bly, Ark., Al Holiday, Ruth Morrison, Dennis (Emma) Morrison, Diane (Larry) Morrison, all of Saginaw, and Brenda Jordan-Coleman, Grand Rapids; Shatara Morrison, a granddaughter he helped raise along with 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves one sister and three brothers, Lorraine Conley and Elmore (Margaret) Hall, both of Saginaw, MI, Willie Jay (Betty) Hall of Royal Oak, MI, and James (Carol) Hall of Ypsilanti, MI; a sister-in-law, Mary Hall, of Saginaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, including a special family friend, Dee Dee Williams and his loyal pet, Snowball. He was predeceased by one son, Everett Clayton "Clay" Hall; one step-son, one sister, and four brothers. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., from 2:00 to 8:00p.m., The family will be present at 5:00 p.m. The family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at St. Anthony's of Padua, 3680 S. Washington Rd. Fr. Tom Schmied, OFM Cap, will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
