Edward Herring

On September 19, 2008, Mr. Edward Herring went home to be with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. Herring was born on April 18, 1928, a twin son to the late Marshall and Fannie Leggett Herring, in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. He was united in marriage to Miss JoAnne Moore on April 22, 1952, in Hazlehurst, Mississippi, at her parents’ home. He worked at the Malleable Iron, Central Foundry of Saginaw and was a member of Local 455.He faithfully served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged on October 11, 1952. He became a member of Victorious Believers Ministries, Church of God in Christ, in 2000 under the pastoral leadership of Bishop Marvin C. Pryor. He was a faithful member and greeter at Victorious Believers until his illness. Besides his loving wife of 56 years, Mr. Herring leaves to cherish his memories three daughters: Gail B. (Milton) Oliver; Portia D. (Michael) Brown; and Miss Terri Ann Herring, all of Saginaw, Michigan. Of his siblings there are two sisters: Georgia Morris of West Memphis, Arkansas, and, his twin sister, Edna (John) Ross-Pennington of Boston, Massachusetts. There are ten grandchildren: Miss Terra Brown; Mr. Milton Oliver (Denise Medel); Mr. Michael L.E. Brown II; Mr. David E. (Devonya) Brown; Mr. Jacob (Jami) Brown; Mr. Isaac Brown; Mr. Marshall A. Oliver; Mr. Matthew D. Oliver; Miss Portia K. Brown; and Miss Sevonna Brown. There are also two precious great-grand children: Jayda Brown and Cayden Brown. Also cherishing his memories are brother-in-law Mr. Quentin (Bobbie) Moore of Omaha, Nebraska, sisters-in-law: Mrs. Mary (Sonny) Godwin of Los Angles, California, Mrs. Margie Turner and Mrs.Gladys Moore. We would like to extend a special thanks, to Bishop and Sister Pryor; the VBM family and Covenant Medical Center – Cooper, 5th Floor Pulmonary Unit. Visitation will take place at Browne’s on Thursday, September 25 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 26, 2008 at Victorious Believers Ministries, 624 S. Outer Drive, with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Bishop Marvin C. Pryor will officiate with interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
