Pastor Edward J. Jones

Remembering Pastor Edward J. Jones who, on Saturday, August 8, 2026 transitioned peacefully to his Heavenly Home at the age of 65 years. He was born March 28, 1961 in Saginaw, Michigan to Willie Lee Jones and Lucille Jones. He was a proud graduate from Saginaw High School then later obtained an Associate degree in Business Administration from Delta College. Pastor Jones thrived in gaining knowledge, he became a graduate from American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee. He loved God, enjoyed teaching, spending time with family, worshipping and serving God. Pastor Jones was constantly studying, teaching and researching which blessed him with opportunities as: ~God’s Servant ~ 1982-1985 Pastor Jones served as an Assistant Pastor at Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Galtian, TN 1986-1991 Associate Pastor/ Sunday School Teacher/Instructor of Teachers at New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI 1992-2003 Pastor of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Cross Plains, TN 1997-2000 Moderator of L.F.N.T. District Association/Vice-Chairman Board of Christian Education of The National Baptist Convention of America 2000-2003 Chairman Preacher Select Committee of the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Tennessee/Chairman of the Publishing Committee and Editor and Writer for the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Tennessee 1997-2003 Chaplin for the Robertson County Sheriffs’ Department-promoted to Lieutenant 2001-2003 Served as the first black President of Robertson County Ministerial Alliance Pastor Jones also served as board member of: Habitat for Humanity, Robertson County Health Council, Roberson County Coalition, Juvenile Justice Commission, North Crest Medical Center 2000-2003 Chairman of Latenite Committee of American Baptist Alumni/ member of Robertson County N.A.A.C.P./member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated/ Served5 years as Pastor of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Bay City, MI before retirement. 2016-2026 Associate Pastor at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church in Saginaw, MI. Pastor Jones leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 38 years, Addie Jones; daughter, Endora (Theodore) Johnson; grandkids, De’Andre (Clarissa) Jackson, AR, Feirah Feltson, Saginaw, Elashia Jackson, Atlanta, GA and Tanisha Jackson, TN; great-grand-kids, Journey Hunter, Saginaw and Lyndon (Devin) Jackson, Arkansas; mother, Lucille (Nettles) Jones; sisters, Debbie (David) Burt, Kimberly Jones, LaKeyna Nettles and Michelle Livingston; brothers, Willie Earl (Ona) Jones, Auburn Hills, MI and Vennis Liles, Saginaw; aunts, Betty (Johnny) Williams of Saginaw, MI, Eva Coleman, Virginia (Larry) Home, Odessa Johnson, all of Jackson, MS, Mary “Georgia” Nettles, Hercules, CA, Mildred Nettles, Lansing, Miand Dorothy Townsend of Saginaw, MI; uncles, R.D. “Bony” Nettles, Saginaw, Ishman Neal, Jr. and Eddie (Carolyn) Neal, Jackson, MS; nieces, LaShonda (Jordon) Hill, Chester, VA, MarQuisha Jones, Atlanta, GA, MarKesha Jones, Saginaw and Helena Jones, Rochester Hills, MI; nephews, C. Pastor Edward James Jones was preceded in death by his father, Willie Jones; son, Marvell Jackson; brothers Ricky and Minister Michael Jones; grandparents, Maggie and John Wesley Nettles and Grozel Neal and Ishman Neal, Sr.; uncles, John (Alma) Nettles, Eddie and Eugene Nettles, Howard (Angela) Nettles; aunts, Ada (McKinly) Jackson, Martha Sims, Eva Bryant and Earlean Nettles. Funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Messiah Missionary Baptist Church, 2615 Williamson Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Otis Washington will officiate. Visitation will take place from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2026 at the funeral home.
