Ella Mae Brown

Mrs. Ella Mae Brown went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at 91 years of age. She was born March 17, 1923 in New Boston, TX, daughter of Lennox Burns Sr. and Georgia Burns. She was united in marriage to R.P. Brown on January 20, 1944. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2005. They were married for 60 enjoyable years. Ella Mae moved to Saginaw in the early 1950’s with her husband, R.P. Brown, where she resided for the remainder of her life. A consummate mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, Ella was an excellent cook and enjoyed watching soap operas and game shows. She was a wonderful mother to many. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church and she loved the Lord. She is survived by her children and their spouses: ten daughters, Verna Johnson, Oklahoma City, OK, Marie Brown Hayes, Texarkana, AR, Jo Arnold, Betty Hightower, Flint, MI, Theresa Reid, Lula (Andrew) Tate, Mae Marsh, Vivian (Bobby) Abraham, all of Saginaw, MI, Barbara Reid, Southfield, MI and Zandra Brown, Grand Rapids, MI; four sons, A.R.P Brown, Jr., Charles Brown, Saginaw, MI, Kenny (Bridgett) Brown, Flint, MI and Russell (Olivia) Brown, Oklahoma City, OK; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Eva Hurd, Saginaw, MI, Beatrice Cotton, Dorothy Patterson, New Boston, TX and Alberta Denson of California; and two sisters-in-law, Emma Holly, San Francisco, CA and Bessie Mae Brown, Saginaw, MI. Ella was preceded in death by two sons, James Brown and Donald Brown; two sisters, Madgie Brantley and Cothelia Burns, New Boston, TX; and three brothers, Homer Burns, Lennox Burns Jr., and William Burns from New Boston, TX; one grandson; one great-grandson; four sisters-in-law; five sons-in-law; and several brothers-in-law. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at House Of Prayer, 2323 S. Jefferson Ave. with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor James E. Lewis will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
