Ms. Emily Ruth Landrum

Following a lengthy illness she passed away February 8, 2016 at the age of 62 years. Ms. Emily Ruth Landrum was born October 1, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of George Landrum Sr. and Jessie Mae (Terry) Landrum. Emily was a lifelong resident of Saginaw, attended Saginaw Public Schools graduating from Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1971. She earned her Associate Degree from Delta College and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Emily was employed at St. Vincent’s Home of Saginaw, OIC of Metropolitan Saginaw, Ruben Daniels Lifelong Learning Center and was employed as a Children’s Protective Services Worker at the Department of Human Services, State of Michigan. She was also a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority. Emily was a lifelong member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. She was a founding member of the Bamecian Ensemble and a member of the Greeters’ Committee. She had been a member of many clubs and served on numerous committees within the church up until the time of her illness. Emily leaves to cherish her memory one son, Stephen Andrae Landrum of Saginaw; one sister, Cassandra L. Landrum of Saginaw, MI; two nieces Shawnisha Tramaine Landrum of Saginaw, MI and Sharon Darlene Meredith of Lithonia, GA; one nephew, Jamaul Maurice Landrum of Chicago, IL; aunts, Shirley Murray and Jeanette Washington, both of Saginaw, MI, Sharon Landrum of Ypsilanti, MI, Charleana Allen of Detroit, MI, and Betty Landrum of Memphis, TN; uncles, J. T. (Rev. Azalee) Landrum and Robert (Irene) Landrum, both of Saginaw, MI; Emily is also survived by her great nephews, Khyren and Kayden (Landrum) Lee; special cousins, Elsenia Porterfield family, Hazel Williams family, Eva Alexander family, Clarise Prince family and Ernest V. Landrum III family; along with a host of other relatives and friends, including god-sister, Gracie Witherspoon and Linda Suggs; god-children, Tonja Brown, Eddie C. Wells, Jr., and Gregory Wilson. Ms. Landrum was preceded in death by her parents, George Sr. and Jessie Landrum; brothers Donald, George Landrum, Jr. and Stephen Landrum; grandparents; aunts and uncles. The family would like to express special thanks to the Bethel A.M.E. Church Family, Fresenius Dialysis, LeFleur Reed and many others, too numerous to mention. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 535 Cathay Street Pastor P. David Saunders will officiate.
