Mrs. Estella Williams

Mrs. Estella “Stella” Doris Marie Barber-Williams passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at the age of 72 years. Mrs. Williams was born in Stamp, Arkansas to Elbert and Annie Lee Taylor-Barber. She relocated to Saginaw, Michigan as a child with her parents. She joined Prince of Peace Missionary Baptist Church. At a young age she accepted Christ and was baptized by the late Pastor K.M. Merkerson. “Estella” began singing in the Youth Choir and continued singing throughout the years; joining the Adult Choir under the leadership of Pastor R.B. Corley, Jr. “Stella” as she was lovingly called by those who knew her, served as a Sunday School Teacher, President of Mission Department for several years, Vacation Bible School Instructor and served in other auxiliaries at Prince of Peace. She also was a member of the Saginaw Valley District Choir and the Wolverine State Baptist Convention. Estella graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1968, earned an Associate’s Degree from Delta College, and a Degree in Business from Concordia College. She was employed at Dow Corning for 28 years as a Data Marketing Assistant before retiring. She was also was employed at R.T.O. as an assistant two years. She enjoyed her family and friends to the fullest, and was known for encouraging everyone to build a relationship with the Lord. Her biggest enjoyment was sharing, precious time with “Sweet Pea”. Mrs. Williams leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Kindra Barber, two grandchildren, Darren “Poppa” Bridgewater and Aaliyaih Janae “Sweet Pea” Harper-Wilson all of Saginaw; one sister, Betty Sanders, Grand Rapids, MI; bonus daughter, Janelle (Horatio) Jordan Turner; one god-daughter, Destiny Wilford, Los Angeles, CA; one very close niece, Evang. Carolyn D. Davis, Flint, MI and a very close cousin, J.C. Thomas, Louisiana and other relatives and friends, including special friends, Pastor and Sis. Robert B. Corley, Jr. and the Prince of Peace Church family, Mattie Hill, Connie Williams, Deacon Charles and Share’ Patrick, Gwen Jones, Josephine Parks and Tiffany Swinton. Mrs. Estella Doris Marie Barber-Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Annie Lee Barber; a daughter, Alithia Louise Bridgewater; brothers, Paul Barber, L. C., Willie, Curtis, Melvin, Eugene Steele, Joe and Charles. In Lieu of flowers, monetary contributions may be given to “Stella’s” grandson, Darren Bridgewater. Thank you and God bless. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 1, 2023, Prince of Peace Baptist Church, 725 N. 24th St., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Robert Corley will officiate. Interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, MI 48601.
