Mrs. Esther M. Richard

Esther Mae Thompson was born on April 5, 1931 to the late Rev. Aaron and Sallie Thompson in Alexandria, Louisiana. She passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the age of 87 years. Esther loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. She was a friendly and likeable person to everyone who met her. Esther enjoyed cooking, and spending time with her family. She was well known for making others smile with her impeccable sense of humor. Esther, later met and married Frank Richard, Sr. in 1949 in Oakdale, LA. In 1951, she moved with her family to Saginaw, MI and became a member of Truevine Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. R. B. Corley, Sr. Esther served in the church until her health failed. She worked for Denno’s Furniture for 15 years. Esther spent the remainder of her life caring for people as a well-known mother of her community. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter and three sons; Lillian G. Donahue of Merrill, MI, Frank Richard, Jr. (Elaine) of Ypsilanti, MI, Terry (Emma) Richard of Saginaw, MI and Kevin Richard of Belleville, MI; eight grandchildren, Reggie (Cora) Richard of Prattville, AL, Cindy Richard of Salem, MA, Darren Richard, Terry II (Setira) Richard, Keisha Richard, all of Saginaw, Michigan; Angel (Omar) Lake of Miami, FL, Kevandria Richard and Kevin Richard II of Belleville, MI; ten great-grandchildren, Reggie, Ingrid, Sammy, Ashlynn (James), Darren II, Terry III, Chris, Mariah, Ashton and Kaidonn; four great-great-grandchildren, Jordynn, Jayde, Aidyn and Maison; two special nieces, Glenda (Wilbur) ardoin of Beaumont, TX and Shirley Venable of Chattanooga, TN; a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Esther was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Richard; son, Larry Richard; brothers, Albert, Aaron, Moses and John Thompson; four sisters, Bertha, Bernice, Ethel and Quincy Thompson; two daughters in-law, Ava and Sandra Richard. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 20 2018 at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church, 2930 Janes Street, Saginaw, MI 48601 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Paul Broaddus, Pastor. Rev. Robert Donald will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607 on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
