Eugene Guster, Sr.

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Guster, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013 at his residence with his daughter, Deb, at his side. Gene looked forward to reuniting with his wife, son, mother, father, brother and other loved ones. He was 72 years old. Eugene was born September 9, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan to Bernice Essex and Henry Cooks. He accepted Christ at an early age. Eugene was a retiree of the Saginaw Malleable Iron Foundry where he was employed 40 years. His training and accomplishments include: extensive training in Team Concept, Total Quality and Procedure Management, Advanced Counseling and Labor Relations. Eugene’s memory will be cherished by his daughters, Debra Marie Guster of Saginaw, MI, Victoria Guster-Hines of Houston, TX; 4 grandchildren, Eugena Guster of Columbus, OH, Douglas Hines, Jr. of Houston, TX, Crystal Guster and Victoria Guster-Brown of Saginaw, MI, and the newest addition to the family, great-granddaughter Samera Georgena Marie Clark of Columbus, OH; sister, Laura (Cleophus) Crawford of Houston, TX, sister-in-law, Carrie Cooks-Townsend, brother-in-law, William Walker (Dora) of Saginaw, MI. Gene also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Mr. Guster was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Georgia Guster, son, Eugene Guster, Jr., mother, Mrs. Bernice Essex, father, Mr. Henry Cooks; brother Nathaniel Cooks; mother and father-in-law Mr. & Mrs. William & Georgia Walker, Sr. The family would like to thank Drs. Rodames and Virginia Dedicatoria, Dr. Pauline D. Watson and the staff at Covenant Healthcare and Covenant Visiting Nurse Association for the loving care Gene received. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.
