Mrs. Eva Dale Harris

Mrs. Eva Dale Harris passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Pastor Alfred L. Harris, Jr. will officiate. On May 15, 1928, God blessed us with an angel Ms. Eva Dale Harris. She was born in Chickasaw, Arkansas. Soon thereafter, she moved to Michigan where she enjoyed camping, fishing and the finer things in life. She worked at Sherman’s Jewelers on E. Genesee as a proficient engraver. As time passed this loving angel went on to raise four children in Saginaw, MI. In 1990, she left the cold of Michigan and moved to Houston, TX. She would continue to build roots there and took great delight in bringing us together for family gatherings and celebration. It is there in Houston, that just last year we were able to capture, if even for a brief moment, five generations brought together as one. Eva made the ultimate decision to spend her final days back in the comforts of Michigan. On March 25th 2016 the Lord called our angel back home. She will forever be in our minds and in our hearts. From Arkansas to Michigan, Texas and back to Michigan Ms. Eva Dale Harris will be missed across the country. The legacy of Ms. Harris began with her children, Stacy (George) Polmanteer, Fern (Walter) Clement and Tovonia (Kenneth) Coleman; six grandchildren, Caprice (Abiodun) Harrell-Adebayo, Tranice (Andrew) Roebuck, Charles I. Airiohuodion, Dominique White, Gabrielle and Alaina Clement; eight great grandchildren, Leshai Jones, Shajuan and Dejuan Johnson, Donald Jr. and Caprice May, Kai Weldon-Airiohuodion, Devante and Alonah Roebuck; great, great grandson, Xaylen Scott. We have always considered Ms. Eva Dale Harris as the matriarch of our family. She taught us to always put God first; generosity should be second nature and the importance of being a strong and loving family. She was as sweet as her sweet tooth. She was a God fearing woman with great strength. Family meant everything to her and she would always be there for family. She loved to read the Holy Bible, praying, watching baseball (Houston Astros fan), basketball (Houston Rockets fan) and spoiling the grandchildren. Ms. Eva Dale Harris was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Jean who passed shortly after birth; son, James Edward Harris; mother, Adella Webster-Lanton and father James Dotson Bowie; sisters, Annie Beatrice, Martha Dollison and Georgia May Fields; brothers; Sylvester Dollison and James Dotson Jr. A special thanks to family and friends who stayed in prayer and supported Ms. Harris throughout transitions. Ms. Yolanda Phillips and the Schoolcraft Hospice staff (Jen, Christy, Mary and Carole), her caregivers were truly a blessing and helping hands in every step of the way. And finally, the family thanks Evans and Browne’s Funeral Services for holding the beautiful service and final homecoming of Ms. Eva Dale Harris.
