Mrs. Fannie Davis

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Fannie (Richburg) Davis went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital at the age of 91 years. She was born the sixth of eight children to Selma and Bethel (Mount) Richburg on August 13, 1927 in Luverne, Alabama. She was married to Booker T. Davis, Jr. Fannie was a longtime, dedicated member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher for over fifty years, Senior Mission instructor and a member of the Caring Hands Ministry until her health failed. She loved reading and teaching God’s word and her motto was, “You better know that you’re saved” and “Always read the bible for yourself”. She also worked for Heavenrich’s Downtown Department Store in Saginaw until their closing. She was formerly a prayer partner for TCT Christian network. Fannie was a homemaker and loving caregiver to many children over the years. She was a great cook and loved to braid hair. Christy, Sha’ and Allie always wanted, “Grandma Davis” to do their hair. Mrs. Davis leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Carol Shivers and Cherilyn Davis; her grandchildren whom she adored, Francena (Tom) DePung, Craig (Alicia) Shivers, Leah Davis and Erica Shivers (Greg Montgomery); great-grandchildren, Tyler (Brandy) DePung, Olivia DePung, John Lamphere, Niya Montgomery, Savannah Shivers and Elijah Shivers; great-great-grandson, Donovin DePung; special nieces, Maya Bynum and Cassie Penn; god-daughter, Amariya Payne. Longtime special friend Maudena Johnson. Many spiritual children, James and Maggie Gaddis, Willa Marselis, Rhonda Farrell-Butler, Robert and Linda Veasley, Barbara Johnson, Connie Wingard, Alberta Pruitt, Annie Thomas, Debra Austin and her beloved Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Booker T. Davis; two daughters, Annetta and Judith Davis; her parents, Selma and Bethel Richburg; special son-in-law, Willie Shivers; all of her siblings, Clyde, Addie, Claude, Grace, Bertha, Inez and Clarence. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 15, 2019 at Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 721 Johnson Street, Saginaw, MI 48607 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Rodrick A. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
