Fayleta Rose Williams

Ms. Fayleta Rose Williams passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the age of 53 years. She was born October 23, 1961 to Margaret Williams Euell and Robert Lee Barnett. Fayleta was a former member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and was currently attending St. John’s Baptist Church under the direction of Pastor James E. Hodge. She graduated in 1981 from Saginaw High School. As a child, she danced with the Civitan Hi-Steppers under the direction of Mrs. Claudine “Mommy Wicks”. She began working at Browne’s Mortuary as a teenager. She was a big influence on many children in the community while working at the Mershon/Houghton Pool, Civitan Center, Anderson Water Park, City of Saginaw Parks & Recreation, Houghton afterschool program, and the Saginaw YMCA. Fayleta loved working and mentoring the youth, traveling with area groups to the casinos, and playing a good game of cards at gatherings with her family and friends. Being raised by her grandparents (the late Deacon and Pearline Williams) gave Fayleta the inheritance as the main link of our family which made her uncles and aunts, Andrew, Johnny, Larry, Joyce, and Cookey, her first set of siblings. With the combination of these five and her four biological sisters and brothers, she actually had five sisters and four brothers. Not having children of her own, her 10 nieces and nephews were her children. Fayleta leaves three sisters to cherish her memory, June, Sharlae (Larry “LC” Ducre), and Chondra Euell; her grandmother, Tommie Etta Barnett; three aunts, Joyce (Greg) Harvin, Cookey Williams, and Cecelia Barnett; five uncles, Andrew (Virgil) Williams Jr, Johnny (Penny) Williams, Sr., Otha, Torone, and Kenny Barnett; 10 nieces and nephews, Andrew “Chi Chi”, Margaret “Me Me”, Kaleisha (her close niece who resided with her), Chaka and Ah’ Miracle Euell, Richard “RJ”, Chakia, and Juneisha Dickerson, Diamon Donald and Dean Isom; and her close friends, Sheila Brewer, Kim Henderson Haynes, Tracy Woods, Debra Wallace, Kenya Farmer, Sherelle “PJ” Stephens Johnson, Jeanette Champion, and the Flemings family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Williams Euell; her grandparents, Deacon Andrew and Pearline Williams, and James Barnett Jr; her godmother, Ozie Williams; her brother, Chaka Euell; an uncle, Larry Williams; an aunt, Delores Barnett; and cousins, Richard Williams and Harvey Barnett. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 810 Cathay Street. Pastor Leslie Lewis will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. for a family hour.
