Mrs. Flora Mae Franklin

Ms. Flora Mae Franklin passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at My Michigan Medical Center at the age of 82 years. Born on March 4, 1943 in Gallion, Alabama to her loving parents, James and Josephine Hooper. Flora eventually made her home in Saginaw, Michigan. It was there that she established deep roots and spent her life touching the hearts of many in her family. Her life was defined by a profound career and dedication to serving others. Flora possessed a natural gift for nurturing, which led her to work part-time as a caregiver for Visiting Nurse and to devote 18 years of loyal service to the Lutheran Manor Nursing Home. Her compassion and unwavering commitment to those in need were evident in every interaction, leaving a mark on the patients and colleagues she served. Beyond her professional work, Flora’s personal life and interests reflected her deeply caring and giving nature. She was a woman of selfless sacrifice, often putting her own needs a side to ensure the well-being and happiness of her family. She found great joy in the artistry of the home cooking delicious meals from scratch, crocheting, and sewing her own clothes. Flora hit a milestone and took her first flight to Virginia at the age of 81. Above all, she treasured spending quality time with her loved ones, where her warmth and generosity could truly shine. Flora’s legacy lives on through her family and loved ones. She leaves behind cherished memories with her brothers David Hooper of Saginaw, MI and Jessie Tucker, Jr. of Demopolis, AL; her sister, Rosie (James) Gibbons of Saginaw, MI; a very special cousin, Leroy Huges; a brother in heart and spirit, Pastor Mitchell Congress. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly. In solemn remembrance, Flora joins those who preceded her in death, including her parents, James and Josephine Hooper; Jessie Tucker, Sr. and Louise Tucker; husbands, Frankie Franklin and Emanuel Bryant; brothers, James Hooper, Jr. and Leo Tucker. While she is no longer with us, the memory of her kindness, love, and selflessness will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Family Hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Ernest L. Reed, officiate.
