Mrs. Florence Williemae Gardner

Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister went home to be with our Heavenly Father on July 31, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Florence Williemae “Granny” Gardner, was born in Shoffner, Arkansas on January 27, 1927 to Robert Neal and Victoria Huff. Florence provided child care for many children, babysitting them in her home for several years. She was an awesome cook and made the best homemade ice cream when her children were ill; it always made them feel better. She also made the best cornbread from scratch that looked like cake. Florence enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Detroit Tigers and going to the casino. Florence loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Florence leaves to cherish her memory, her loving children, Martha (Josh) Hardin of Anderson, IN, John I. Gardner, Jr. of Stafford, VA, Nina Gardner and Robert Gardner, both of Saginaw, MI; sister, Martha Walker of Brooklyn, NY; ten grandchildren, Monique Gardner, Izasha Gardner, Nakeshia and Takeshia Gardner, Willie Clark, Rochelle Hardin, Chastity (Robert) Hardin-Glazebrooks, Tasha Gardner, Jonathan (Alexus) Gardner and Joseph Gardner; fifteen great-grandchildren, Marteen, William, Brittany, Danielle, Imari, A’Nya, Aneya, My’Shea, Daya, Bobby, Demetrius, Kelvon, Raynae, Jeremiah and Jamahri; great-great-grandson, Joseph; other relatives and friends, Lois Abner, Eva Morris, Georgia Turner, Lizzie Echols, and including sprcial friend whom she loved dearly, Toy Jackson; special neighbors, Ms. Shirley and Mrs. Mary; a host of nieces, and nephews who will all miss her greatly. Florence was preceded in death by her husband John I. Gardner; parents, Robert Neal and Victoria Huff; three sisters, Pauline, Elnora and Arnita; one brother, Ernest and special neighbor, Walter McGee. The Gardner family would like to acknowledge Izasha Gardner for all your help with your grandmother’s transition, VNA Melissa F. and Kati and the whole staff, Covenant Healthcare, Carolyn Epplet of Great Lakes Bay, Great Lakes Bay Pharmacy staff, special home care aides, Felicia Pipkins and Vickie Donald, kidney doctors, Osama and Ramaiyah. Special thanks to Pastors Eddie and Margret Bragg, Delores Baber and New Covenant Christian Center Church for your many prayers and love and special cousin, Joyce Rivers. Family hour will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Freedom Full Gospel Church, 2259 Williamson Road, Saginaw, MI 48601 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Eddie Bragg will officiate. Friends may call at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
