Mrs. Freddye Eugenia Howard

Freddye Eugenia Person was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the parents of Samuel and Annie Belle Person. She passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019 at the age of 96 years. She accepted Christ at an early age. After her move to Saginaw, Michigan she chose Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church as her church and contributed much of her attention to the church with her nursing skills, contributions, and participation. Freddye attended Benham Colored Public Schools. After finishing high school, she attended Tuskegee Institute receiving a four-year degree in the field of Nursing under the professorship of Dr. George Washington Carver. After graduating, Freddye began her nursing career working in Birmingham, Alabama at the hospital. She later relocated to Berea, Kentucky working at the hospital. Freddye later moved to Saginaw, MI and began work at St. Luke’s Hospital and Covenant Hospital. Every Monday, Freddye volunteered at the blood bank assisting in drawing and taking blood pressure. Freddye enjoyed traveling and often traveled to Toronto, Canada, Orlando, FL, Gatlinburg, TN and back home to Benham, KY. Freddye found her true love in Saginaw in 1968 and married Carl Howard, Sr. he preceded her in death in 1987. To this union was born, one son, Carl Howard, Jr. Freddye, "Mae" as she was affectionately called, leaves a lifetime of memories to be shared with family and friends, son, Carl Howard, Jr.; nephews, Clarence (Bettie) Rodgers, Cleveland, OH, Thomas Mills, Detroit, MI, Cecilia (James) Crews, Rochester, MI,; nieces, Brenda, Joy both of Flint, MI, Michelle (Mark), Rochester, MI, Wandel Shell (Louis) Birmingham, AL; grand-nephews, Steven (Nicole) Detroit, MI, James, Jr. (Regina) Atlanta, GA, Antony, Flint, MI; several great-great-nieces and nephews; special friends, Lois Irvin, Saginaw, MI and Mr. & Mrs. Weston, Carl, Bridgeport, MI. Family hour will take place 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607 with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Min. Marcelle Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place 9:00 am until time of service.
