Mr. Frederick Long, Sr.

Mr. Frederick Long Sr, son, brother, father and friend, transitioned from this world on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, during a peaceful night’s sleep in his home. What a blessing! He was born on Sunday, December 16, 1956, in St. Louis, Missouri to his beautifully spirited mother Alice Helen Bolton and father Frederick Nunn. At an early age, Frederick was lovingly adopted by his father William Long Sr. Frederick was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. Grounded in faith, he was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church. Frederick received his education throughout Buena Vista Schools. He was employed by Saginaw Grey Iron Casting Plant for many years. Frederick then began to fulfill his passion for semi-truck driving and was employed by Causley Trucking before going independent. He enjoyed traveling the states and bringing home artifacts to his children. Frederick’s lifelong hobbies included servicing the community, especially seniors, with lawn care and home maintenance projects. He was wise, strong and full of energy! At his leisure, Frederick enjoyed going to classic car shows and watching westerns and the Detroit Lions play football. Frederick was a loving family man, a provider and protector, who valued making memories with his children and grandchildren. In them, Frederick instilled moral excellence and his very own polite mannerism. His curly locks, bright eyes, welcoming smile and corny laugh will too be remembered by us all! Frederick Long, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory, his only daughter, LaToya (DeWayne Sr) Smith; sons, Ashone Thompson, Frederick (April) Long Jr, and Ryan Long; grandchildren, Ashone Jr, Shonise, Shontoria, Ashonna, Taylor, DeWayne Jr, Devin, Tori, Frederick, Jordan and Adonis; sister, Lenore (Kenneth) Crockett; brothers, James Long, William Henry Long and Wilbert Long; aunts, Rosetta Lee and Rosie Thorne; a host of adored nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Victor Jimenez, George Cooper and Gary and Annette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Nunn, Alice Helen Bolton and William Long, Sr.; grandmother, Mayme Emma Lewis; sister, Wilhelmina Bolton; brothers, David Long, Jimmie Long and Huey “Pete” Long; uncles, James Houze, Jules Houze, Jack Thorne, Sr. and William Thorne; aunts, Geraldine Simmons Crumpler, Ramona Hawkins, Louise Rankins and Maxine Gillespie. Funeral service 12:00 Noon Monday, November 14, 2022, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607. Rev. Dr. Dennis Laffoon will officiate with in interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue. Visitation 9:00 AM until the time of service.
