Mr. Gary McKinley Motley

Our beloved father, Gary McKinley Motley, of Grand Blanc, MI, became an ancestor on February 19, 2024. Born on June 18, 1953 in Saginaw, MI to Oscar Sr. and Willie Viola Motley. He graduated from St. Charles High School on 1972 continuing his education at Michigan State University where he met his first wife Sharon, who continued to be his lifelong friend. They shared three wonderful children, Keisha, Jack, and Karen. He worked for General Motors for 45 years, in a supervisory position. He valued his employees and championed comradery in the workplace. When venturing out on errands and asked by his children where he was going he had two sayings “to see a turkey drink water” or “to see a man about a horse”, his children knew that meant to have your face washed, teeth brushed, dressed, and ready to go. His last trip was in April 2022, to Alabama with his two daughters to check on his brother’s health. And per usual, the trip was not finalized until history lesson was provided at Fort Gaines. He valued his solitude, but it never diminished his care and concern for his family. He spent his last days planning a trip to see his brother and daughters again, rarely took in account his own health when a road trip was called. He loved sports, fishing, traveling, genealogy, gardening, and most of all his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As his last breath was taken at his bedside was his youngest daughter, brothers, niece and nephew. He leaves to cherish his memory, three children Keisha D. Moten of Bradenton, FL, Jack A. Motley of Saginaw, MI, and Karen J. Motley of Wesley Chapel, FL; six grandchildren, Dominique (Ashley), Jazmin, Jamie, Natasha Motley-Moten, Jaxson and Jacqueline Motley; eight great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clearthur (Betty) Lee, Frank (Regina) Motley, Kennith (Alisen) Motley and Vincent Motley; two sisters, Clarissa (Anthony) England and Valerie Petersen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceded in death by Oscar Sr. and Willie V. Motley, Oscar Motley Jr., Anthony Motley, Charlene Motley, and Andrea Motley. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be anymore pain: for the former things are passed away. Revelations 21:4 Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, Rev. Gregory Grady will officiate. Interment will take place in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, & Mausoleum, 7475 E. Holland Rd.,, Saginaw, MI 48601. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
