George Young

Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Street. Fr. Ramiro Trejo, Ofm.Cap will officiate with entombment in Oakwood Memorial Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Tuesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where a Vigil for the deceased will take place at 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral Mass. Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 following a lengthy illness. He was born March 23, 1925 in Washington, Louisiana to Ida Gauthier Young and Adam Young George retired from General Motors Grey Iron Foundry on July 1, 1993 after 42 year of service. George was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Saginaw, Michigan. George loved visiting friends, especially those homebound or hospitalized. He enjoyed attending baseball games and all other sporting events. He was a lover of jazz and zydeco music and also loved traveling with his family. George's favorite pastime was spending time with the grandchildren, running errands for his mother-in-law and shopping for his wife, Jettye. George was greatly loved by all who knew and associated with him. He believed in keeping a smile on everyone's face and was successful at looking his best at all times. He collected baseball caps from his trips throughout the United States. George leaves to cherish his memory his loving and caring wife of 46 years, Jettye Marie Young; three daughters, Sharon, Traci and Lucinda all of Saginaw; two sons, George of Saginaw and Mike of Taylorsville, MS; four granddaughters, Brittany, Jettylin, Sarayah and Lori; three grandsons, George, Montrel and Devon; sisters, Estelle (Joseph) White of Riverside, Calif. and Julia KIng of Opelousas, LA; brothers, John (Rose) Young of Stockton, Calif. and Alvin (Elizabeth) Young of Saginaw; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other dear relatives and friends; also, his special friends Roy Carroll, Irene Mannie, Loren and Dorothy Draves. George was preceded in death by his mother and father, brothers, Wilton, Nathan and Bernard Young; sisters, Nita Ta'Young, Ida Lou Bloom and Shirley Harris.
