Mr. Glen Jackson

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you, I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” -Jer 1:5 ESV On February 11, 1931, Glen Jackson was fashioned into being by the Great Architect of this world. Born to Warley Henderson and Felton Jackson (both deceased) in Paloma, Arkansas, Glen would be raised and lovingly nurtured by his devoted aunt, Addie Phillips. Now the Lord God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper (one who balances him- a counterpart who is) suitable and complementary for him.” – Gen 2:18 AMP If anyone should ever write my life story For whatever reason there might be Ooh, you’ll be there between each line of pain and glory ‘Cause you’re the best thing that ever happened to me Ah, you’re the best thing that ever happened to me. “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me” lyrics. The beautiful, radiant, and graceful Clara Toatley starred as Glen’s leading lady throughout sixty years of melodic matrimony. They found their rhythm in nuptials on January 27, 1951 and their hearts sang together ever since. If you’re the desert sand, I’ll be your water. You’re the perfect plan I never thought of. Initially, Glen’s younger self thought he was destined for perpetual bachelorhood. Once he encountered Clara, he realized she was indeed, the perfect plan he’d never thought of. While reminiscing about his love, Glen confessed, “There was just something about her.” She’s got a way about her. I don’t know what it is, But I know that I can’t live without her. She’s got a smile that heals me. I don’t know why it is But I have to laugh when she reveals me. “She’s Got a Way” lyrics. I’m a better man than what I used to be… Fore, a little fellow follows me. –Author Unknown Glen’s son, Felton “Sonny” Jackson II (Minnie) is positively the prized pinnacle of his life’s work. He showered his son with all the material things he was never afforded growing up—toys, the latest fads, and stylish clothes. More far-reaching, he enriched Sonny’s moral fiber and character through his admirable example, loving correction, and patient coaching. He was his son’s hero, #1 fan, and, at the appropriate juncture in Sonny’s life, friend. Glen’s role as a father was further livened by the colorful laughter, smile, and warmth of a vibrant daughter/niece, Karen “Mama” Swan. “Daddy’O” shared a unique bond and authentic closeness with Kasey that mirrored the genuineness housed in his heart. Grandchildren are the crown of aged men, And the glory of children is their fathers [who live godly lives]. –Prov 17:6 AMP Glen doted over the treasured legacy of his grandchildren. Pete (Joy), Jamie (Angela), Bugg, Sugah-Doo, and Perry. While others may have viewed them as little terrors, Glen saw unlimited potential and greatness. He held his words until he had something worth saying. So when he spoke, he always held a captive audience. Great men aren’t necessarily famous. And famous men aren’t necessarily great. Glen Jackson… Icon. Legend. A great man. Also closely nestled beneath his sheltering presence were great niece, Kandi, and two great nephews, Kerrington and Ari. His house grew to include great grandchildren: Shamriel, Dominique, Kylan, Tevaun, Teondrae, and Jasmine. He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and expand my territory! Please be with me in all that I do, and keep me from all trouble and pain!” And God granted him his request. -1Chr 4:10 NLT Never has “marrying into the family” been so clearly understated. Glen, an only child, inherited nine sisters and one brother: Mattie Gray (deceased), Helen Garner, Delois Myles (deceased), Peggy Thompson, Zelva Pope (deceased), Barbara Davis (Walter), Shirley Toatley (deceased), Lillie Middleton, Bobbie Williams, and Elliot Toatley, Jr. (deceased). Irrefutably, the two words spoken most within this family are: Uncle Glen. He probably still hears his name being called! His territory expanded to include enough nieces & nephews to field a football team. His kindheartedness and charity was deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize. Instead, of an expotentially greater value, Glen won the hearts of his family. A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. –Prov 17:6 KJV Minnie, there’s an old hymn which states, “Some bright morning when this life is over… I’ll fly away”. Surely, your devoted love and compassion was like a gentle breeze… a comforting lift… the wind beneath his wings. It’s time we remove the “in-law” from your title and simply call you, daughter.  Phyllis Andrews and Sharry Hammond & Family: you guys should be listed in the section with sisters, nieces, and nephews, because that’s where you were filed in his heart. “That’s mighty neighborly of you!” Buster (deceased), June, and Eric Gordon are the epitome of this sentiment. Our bonds have long since blurred the line between family and friend. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple. –Ps 27:4 KJV Before the dawn of June 14, 2017, the Grand Sculptor of all there is and will ever be reflected on the life work of Glen Jackson and deemed him worthy of the one thing he most desired and sought after. Family hour 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 23, 2017 at Grace Chapel Church, 2202 Janes Street, with funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor James Nelson will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, MI.
