Mrs. Gloria Dee Scott

On Monday, January 29, 2018 our beloved angel Glory (Gloria) Dee Scott completed her assignment on earth. She passed away peacefully at Covenant Medical Center Cooper ICU where she was a well-respected and loved employee for nearly 30 years. Gloria was born in Saginaw, Michigan on January 28, 1951 to the proud parents of Aubrey Taylor and Nellie Singleton. She graduated from Saginaw High School Class of “1970”. Over the years she enjoyed attending Holy Communion Gospel Center whenever she could and enjoyed worshipping the Lord where Pastor Otis and Charlene Washington are pastors. To know Gloria was to love her. She enjoyed playing cards, going to bingo, casino trips, socializing with friends, sipping a fresh cup of coffee, but most of all, being the matriarch of her family. Mrs. Scott leaves three daughters and one son to cherish many memories, Lola Shelton, Maudena, Yamia and Willie Scott; grandchildren, DarWanda (Samuel) Okenwa, DaMonica Madison, Tevin Scott, William Darden VI, Yasmeen, Aanija, Tanaya, Tyrique, Ya’Riah and Cameron Scott; great-grandchildren, Jameseonna, JaKaela and JaKaylon Faulk, DaMarcion Scott, De’Erika Finley; one sister, Elvira York; five nieces, Berniece, Vera and Erma York, Threseanne Samuels, Tamara Taylor; six nephews, Baa-ith Muhammad, Davie Samuels, Aubrey Taylor II and Thadeus Taylor; eight sisters-in-law, Helen Taylor, California, Sue Grissom, Magnolia, AR, Stella Taylor, Saginaw, MI, Mattie Scott, Dallas, TX, Rosie Lee Watkins, Saginaw, MI, Jeanette Scott, Nelle Bozer and Minnie Pearl Watkins; three brothers-in-law, Walter Scott, Dallas, TX, Herman Watkins and Eugene Watkins, Florence, AL and a host other relatives and friends, including special friends, Mary Barnette, Lois Wallace, Elizebeth Wilson, Mrs. Quarrels, Shirley Brooks, Mary Riley and Vera Coleman. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Darvis Scott; parents, Aubrey Taylor and Nellie Singleton; daughter, Wanda Jean Scott; son, Roy Lee Watkins; grandchildren, Mariah and William Darden; great-grandson, Damarion Scott; brothers, Henry Samuels, Carl Taylor and Aubrey Taylor ; one nephew, Clarence York; loving companion, Roy Lee Watkins. The family would like to express special thanks to Covenant Medical Healthcare, Visiting Nurses, friends and family for all the love and support. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Darvis Scott; parents, Aubrey and Nellie Taylor; daughter, Wanda Jean Scott; son, Roy Lee Watkins; grandchildren, Mariah and William Darden; great-grandson, Damarion Scott; brothers, Henry Samuels, Carl Taylor and Aubrey Taylor ; one nephew, Clarence York; loving companion, Ray Lee Watkins. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Holy Communion Gospel Center 1245 East Genesee Street. Pastor Charlene Washington will officiate. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
