Mr. Gregory Demone Haynie, Sr.

Mr. Gregory Demone Haynie, Sr. passed away Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the age of 60. He was born December 17, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Henry and Reacie Mae Haynie. He was a residence of Saginaw, MI. Gregory married Mary Lynn Sims on June 14, 1980. He gave his life to the Lord at an early age and was a member of Mount Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church. Gregory graduate from Buena Vista High School, where he continued to be an avid supporter. Gregory retired from General Motors Steering Gear Plant 2 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed cooking and finding the best ingredients for his dishes, especially his famous fried chicken. Gregory loved playing the lottery and scratch-off tickets. He was always washing his family’s cars and keeping them clean. Gregory enjoyed spending time with family and friends, in particular, having lunch outings with his classmates, Judge Terry Clark, Ralph Douglas and Kenny Bridgewater. Mr. Gregory Demone Haynie, Sr. leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 35 years, Mary Lynn Haynie; 2 children, Gregory Demone Haynie II, both of Saginaw, MI and Simyra Lynn Haynie of Ypsilanti, MI; mother, Reacie Mae Haynie; godson, Dion Demone Frierson; 2 brothers, Andrew Haynie and Kennedy Haynie; niece and great nephews, Shalonda Ellison, Israel and Jordan Smith; sister-in-law, Gloria Sims; 2 brothers-in-law, Kenneth Sims and Mel Sims, all of Saginaw, MI; niece and nephew he helped raised, Raeha Heard of Detroit, MI and V. Michael (Lesley) Sims of Saginaw, MI; 2 aunts, Florence Buckley of Rockford, IL and Earline Shepard of Saginaw, MI; uncle, James Johnson of Rockford, IL; mother-in-law, Ruby Sims of Saginaw, MI; a host of cousins including special cousins, Leon Mixon of Saginaw, MI, Rev. Willie and Jennifer Miller of Rockford, IL; a special neighbor, Roger Taylor; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including , the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. Club and Mother Club. Mr. Haynie was preceded by his father, Henry Haynie; brother, Anthony Haynie; grandparents, Ezra and Ever Lee Smith. The family would like to express a special thanks to our cousin Marlene Shepard. On behalf of the family, we want to thank you for your time that you came to visit with Greg and the family the last couple of weeks. During this time, we have realized time is so precious and we are grateful you chose to spend it with us. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 North 6th Street. Dr. Desmon Daniel will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friend may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
