Hamp Boyd

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 at St. Paul Baptist Church, 120 North 15th Street. Host Pastor Vincent McMillon. Pastor Miles Franklin will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present at 6:00 p.m. Mr. Hamp Brinkley Boyd III passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper. He was born January 20, 1948 in Iuka, MS to Jeanette and Hamp Brinkley Boyd, Jr. Hamp was the eldest son of ten children. He served four years in the U.S. Army. There he received many medals including the Purple Heart. Hamp was also employed with Eaton Manufacturing and Saginaw Steering Gear Division-GM. The magnitude of his heart will never be forgotten. Hamp leaves to cherish memories two sons, Kenny (Kathy) Watkins of Saginaw, MI and De'Andre Garcia of Florida; three step-children, Marie Hayes, Darnell Hallimon and Atonya Patterson, all of Saginaw, MI; five sisters, Mildred (Joe) Gipson, Linda Hudspeth, Brenda Boyd, Pamela (Mosby) Boyd and Juanita Boyd, all of Saginaw, MI; two brothers, Jerry Boyd, and Michael (Kara) Boyd, all of Saginaw, MI; four grandchildren, Delfina, Antonia and Adora Garcia and Kenny Watkins, Jr., all of Saginaw, Mi; nieces, Carolyn and Gwen Southward, Tamika, Latrice, Tanesha, Taronda, Shanika, Ke'Vonn, Quinda, Monique, Latoya, Joy, Kiya, Rha-Sheema and Kierra; nephews, David, Greg and Willie Southward, Maurice, Glenn, Maris, Marcellus and Michael, Jr.; great-nephews, Tyler and Camron; one aunt, Margaret Hodges of Tishamingo, MS; one uncle, Jerry D. Boyd of Lima, OH; brothers-in-law, Samuel Gipson and Richard Hudspeth; God-brothers, Addison Thompson, Sr., Antwan Mims, Billy Johnson, Eugene Blair and Andre Hammial; a host of other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends who loved him very dearly, including special friends, Phyllis Boyd, Minnie Watkins, Freddie Williams, Kevin Haynes, Marion Griffith, Jr., Melissa Sausedo, Kenny and Edna Carter, Darelen Farrol and Dora Garcia. Hamp was preceded in death by his father, Hamp B. Boyd, Jr.; his mother Jeanette Boyd; two sisters, Patricia Diane Boyd and Ruth Elizabeth Boyd; two nephews, Dontay Boyd and Jerry Hamilton, and a brother-in-law, Richard Hudspeth.
