Mrs. Helen Ruth Henley

Helen Ruth Henley was born on April 7, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee the daughter of Floyd Lee and Ruthie Mae (Alexander) Davis. She passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the age of 79 years. Helen attended Booker T. High School and furthered her education by attending college at Memphis State University earning an Associate’s Degree. She was a beautician and instructor at Melrose High School in Memphis, TN. She was a longtime resident of Saginaw, Michigan and attended St. John Lutheran Church. She continued sharing her knowledge as an instructor to provide cosmetic treatments to the hair, skin and nails at Murphy’s Beauty College, Carlean’s and Vera’s Beauty Salons in Saginaw, Michigan. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, skiing, and reading playing cards; especially Bid Whist (she could bid an eight-no-trump, and not bat and eye). Mrs. Henley leaves to cherish many memories her husband, Robert James Henley; one daughter, Phyllis Yvonne Azeur, Philadelphia, PA; three step children, Brian Henley (Christina), Scott Gower (Christine) and Lisa Rollins (Mark); five grandchildren, Jennifer McKinney (Christopher), Saginaw, MI, Garrett Edward Gower and Hayden Nickolas Gower both of Howell, MI, Daniel and Jacob Neal Henley both of Snellville, GA; two great-grandchildren, Adian and Madison McKinney; two sisters, Dr. Carolyn Jean Jackson, Atlanta, GA and Jacqueline Kinsey, Merrillville, IN; two brothers, Floyd Lee (Debra) Davis and Jerome Davis both of Memphis, TN; one aunt, Annie Kate Henley, Saginaw, MI; two sisters-in-law, Ora Bryant, Los Angeles, CA and Mary Jones, Saginaw, MI; brothers-in-law, Fredrick Henley and Roddie (Charlotte) Henley; six nieces, four nephews; many other relatives and friends including special friends Patricia Ann McCully, Saginaw, MI, Grace Meachum, Lillie Thomas, Aziza Baruti, Angie Leeks Jones and Janet Lanaston all of Memphis, TN. Helen was preceded on death by her parents, Floyd and Ruthie Davis; sister, Joyce Brady and an uncle, James Henley. The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at Hoyt Nursing Home, Lena Jennings, Mariamma Sharper, Brenda Crockett, the physicians and nurses of Covenant Medical Center Cooper ICU Unit. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2021 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Pastor Dennis Laffoon will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 South Washington Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
