Mr. Henry "Hank" Burrell

Deacon Henry Burrell, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on Sunday July 14, 2024 in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 86 years. Henry was born June 6, 1938 in Shaw, Mississippi the son of Louis Burrell, Sr. and Mary (Arnold) Burrell. He was employed by General Motors Malleable Iron Plant and was a member of the UAW Local 455. He retired after more than 39 years of loyal service. He was a member of the Deacon Board at Rose of Sharon C.O.G.I.C., under the leadership of, Pastor Elder Louis C. Knox, Sr. He also served on the Deacon Board at Greater Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of the late Bishop Alex J. Smith and later under the leadership of Superintendent K. L. Smith in W. Helena, Arkansas. His memory will be cherished by his wife, Brenda Burrell; son, Minister Morris (Ruby) Stokes; daughters, Bernice Stokes, Mary (Hilton) Garman, Shirley Martin, Linda, Ada and his sweetheart/secretary, Sharron Burrell; Stephanie Dunbar, LaToyia (Ann) Jackson-Roberson and Cangela Williams; step-children, Raymone Williams and Naporsa Mitchell; 16 granddaughters; eight grandsons; special grandchildren, Jermaine (Ericka) Burrell and Chardenea (Xavier) Burrell-Holmes; 27 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friend Robert “Mack” (Pat) Young, Sterling (Pete) Simington and Kossie McCaskey and god-son, Matthew Knox. Henry “Hank” Burrell was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Burrell, Sr. and Mary (Arnold) Burrell; spouses, Georgia M. Burrell and Mary Ann Burrell; daughter, Dorothy Tracy; sons-in-law, Dan Martin and Leonard Dunbar; grandson, Darius (DJ) Holmes, Jr.; brothers, Louis (Vinnie C.) Burrell, Jr. and Richard Burrell; sisters, Naomi Williams, Elizbeth (Oscar) Lewis, Mary (Rufus) Lee, Florida (Wash) Ross and Addie Dean Burrell; stepson, Raymond Williams, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, 4302 Webber St., Saginaw, MI 48601. Pastor Louis Knox will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave. Visitation will take place on Thursday at the funeral home from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.
