Mr. Horace Lee Washington Sr.

Mr. Horace Lee Washington, Sr. was born September 14, 1947 in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the parents of Robert, Sr. and Sarah (Berry) Boles. He passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 at the age of 72 years. After graduating from Buena Vista High School Horace joined the United States Army at the age of 19 and received an Honorable Discharge. He married Melva Jean Burton in 1971. He was a member of UAW Local 455 and retired from General Motors after 30 dedicated years of service. Mr. Washington leaves to cherish his memory five children, Angelous Washington of California, Latrece Washington of Saginaw, MI, Dominique Washington of Phoenix, AZ, Horace Washington, Jr. of Arizona, Dontario Washington of Gilbert, AZ; one step-son, Bruce Burton, Sr. of Arizona; 21 grandchildren, Shaquita Stewart of Saginaw, Bruce Burton, Jr. of Ionia, MI, Jaylen, Aniya, Angelous, Jr., Jayla, Akhi-Washington, Saginaw, TyShell W. Ratcliff, De’Quaivion W, Sophia Sheilds, (god-granddaughter, Janaysia, Dmarion, Amari, Lailah, Aiyana of Phoenix, AZ, Makayla, Zyrah W., Jayden, Jordan, and Daja Pruett, all of Gilbert, AZ; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Ann Bates and Shirley Hughes, both of Saginaw, and Diane Boles of Columbus, OH; four brothers, James and Cornelius Berry, Anthony and Steven Boles; one aunt, Eliea “Aunt Doll” L. Washington, Grissom, Mississippi; two uncles, Robert Felton V of Mississippi and Andrew Lee Washington; 14 nieces; more than 17 nephews including special nephew, Dedrick Boles of Saginaw; three sisters-in-law, Deborah, Runette and Myrtle Burton; two brothers-in-law, Roxie, Sr. and Troy Burton, all of Saginaw, many cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Anthony Miller of Saginaw, MI. Mr. Washington was preceded in death by his wife, Melva J. Washington; parents, Robert Boles, Sr. and Sarah Berry; brothers, James, Sr. and Raymond Berry; mother and father-in-law, John and Ruth Burton; sisters-in-law; Janice, Judy and Yvonne Burton; brother-in-law, John Burton, Jr.; a granddaughter, Peyton Ashley Washington and one grandson. Visitation will take place from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. A private funeral service will be held. Pastor Eugene Burton will officiate with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, G-4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442.
