Ida George

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and Friend made her transition from earth to heaven, Thursday, November 28, 2013 at HealthSource of Saginaw at the age of 90 years. She was born August 30, 1923 in Rosedale, Mississippi to the late Richard and Martha Lewis. She later moved to Detroit, Michigan where she met and married the late Marshall George in October of 1953. To this union 5 children were born. She was a past member of Christ Deliverance Center Church, under the leadership of Pastor Glen Nichols, before her health failed. She loved cooking, cleaning, fishing and spending time with her family and friends, especially taking care of her grandchildren. Her memory will be cherished by two loving daughters, Lorraine (Kenneth) Bond, Plano, TX, Juanita George, Saginaw, MI, and one son who was dear to her heart, Jerome George; four grandchildren, Kaaya Bond (Sanetrick) Nunn, Frisco, TX, LaTasha Hill, Aberdeen, NC, Jerrett (Toni) McGhee, Vicenza, Italy, and Ciara Rouster, Jackson, Mississippi; her great-grandchildren, one whom she adored, Sanetrick D. Bond, Frisco, TX, Jasmine Nunn, Memphis, TN, Jadakiz, Stephon and Tess McGhee, Vicenza, Italy; two nephews, John (Lynn) George, Saginaw, MI, and Robert (Shirley) George, Big Rapids, MI; two nieces, Ameenah Ahmad, Powder Springs, GA, and Gwendolyn Bowman, Saginaw, MI; special cousins, JW (Lou) Scott, Bensenville, IL, Evelyn Houston, Elmhurst, IL, and Mary Ann Garrett, Saginaw, MI; and special friends, Rosemary White, Berneice Moore, Pat McCulley, Tina Dye, Pat Tarpley, Luanda Canty, all of Saginaw, MI and Rev. Willie Earl Thomas, Starkville, Mississippi. Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marshall George; one son, Eugene Palmer; one daughter, Rosena George and many friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at HealthSource of Saginaw, Great Lakes Unit, Pastor Marvin T. Smith and the Mt. Olive Church family. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue. Rev. Dr. Desmon Daniel will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
