Jacquelin Lockhart

Jacquelin Gipson Lockhart, our beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the age of 62 years. Jacquelin Lockhart, best known as Jackie, was born in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Charlie Gipson and Eudora Blair. In 1970, she married William E. Lockhart and was blessed with raising two daughters together. She had been a devoted wife for 42 years who loved to cook and took pride in cooking meals for her family. Jackie was a committed caretaker who dedicated much of her time making sure the children in her family were always taken care of. She was a faithful member of St. Luke CME Church all her life, serving in various church ministries including the Stewardess Board. She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 42 years, William E. Lockhart; daughter, Audrea Kim Lockhart; mother and stepfather, Eudora and Ollie Blair; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Martha S. and Berlin Lockhart, Sr.; grandchildren, Danielle J. Lockhart, Sydney and Jordan Ponder; step-grandchildren, Latreana and Mariah Ponder; three step-grandchildren, Austin and Malcolm Washington and Jaren Johnson; and great-grandson, Brandan Lockhart. She also leaves her brother, Tommie (Theresa) Gipson; step-sisters, Julie Ann Blair and Alice Webster; step-brothers, Ollie Lee Blair, Jr., Kenneth Blair, Joey Blair and Dennis Blair; brother-in-law, Berlin Jr. (Bobbie) Lockhart; and sisters-in-law, Dr. L. L. Lockhart and Martha Ann Lockhart. Jackie was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Carla Lockhart-Ponder; father, Charlie (Delores) Gipson; uncle, Sylvester Carroll; and grandparents, TJ and Christell Riley, all who were lifelong founding members of St. Luke CME Church. She was also preceded in death by step-sisters, Gloria Jean Blair and JoAnn Blair; sister-in-law, Barbara Ann Lockhart; and brother-in-law, Freddie Lockhart, Sr. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 17, 2014 at St. Luke C.M.E. Church, 1121 Tuscola Street. Pastor Joyce Braddock-Redfearn will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Sunday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
