Mr. James Anthony Banks, Jr.

James Anthony “JB” Banks, Jr. passed away on August 9, 2022. James was born in Wildwood, New Jersey on September 19, 1958 to James and Lillian Banks. His family later relocated to Flint, Michigan where he attended Northwestern High School. As a young man, James relocated to Saginaw where he met the love of his life, Joanne Washington. James was a dedicated worker at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant in Frankenmuth, MI as a supervisor for over 30 plus years. “JB” enjoyed watching football and spending time with his family. He had a love for fishing even If he didn’t catch anything. James was the life of the party with his famous phrase, yelling, “Who you Wit, Dog Pound” and “A Plenty”. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Joanne Banks; two daughters, Tameka (Calvin) Bridgeforth of Goodlettsville, TN and Taquana Franklin; adopted son, Marcus Williams of Saginaw; eight grandchildren, Dekwonta Washington, Armonta and Amri Franklin, A’Denn Lindsey and Adarrius Reilly, all of Saginaw, MI, Karlishia, Karree and Karl Ray, Jr., all of Tennessee; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Michael (Janice) Banks; one sister, Virginia Banks; brother-in-law, Larry Williams, all of Saginaw, MI; special nieces, Leslie and Robin Banks; nephews, Duane Vanlanham and Antoine Banks; god-daughter, Nannette Smith; special cousin, Darryl Stone; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Kenneth (New York) Anthony, Darnell Brooks, James Bacon, the Stone family of Flint, and the Zender family of Frankenmuth. James was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Anthony “JJ” Banks III; James and Lillian Banks, Sr.; sister, Sheila A. Banks; brother, Herbert Banks and a great-granddaughter, MiOnna Rodriquez. The family would like to express thanks to Emily and the staff at Covenant Healthcare Harrison, Anthony Hicks, Good Shepard Church of God in Christ and Evans & Browne’s Funeral Home. Family hour 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at Good Shepherd Church of God In Christ, 3020 Perkins Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601 with funeral service commencing at 11:00 AM. Pastor Tony Monroe will officiate. Interment will take place in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601. Mr. Banks will lie in state in the Chapel of Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, from 2:00 - 6:00 PM on Monday.
