Mr. James "Jack" Jackson Sr.

Our beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at his residence at the age of 94 years. Jack was born August 2, 1922 in Greenville, Mississippi the son of Raymond and Millie Jackson. At a young age he moved to Saginaw, MI seeking employment and was employed with General Motors. Not long after, Jack learned that the Construction/Demolition business was in high demand. He resigned from his employer and obtained a license in the field where he worked for many years. In 1942 he married Mattie Scott and to that union he was blessed with eight children. He leaves to cherish his memory; one daughter, Mary Ann (Jerome) Kennedy; two sons, Roger (Carol) Jackson and Larry Jackson; 26 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marguerite Martin and Kate Alexander; two brothers, Earl and Frank Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including special friends, Dorothy Pritchett, Jack Stelder and Ms. Dorothy Perkins. Jack loved his sibling very much, their bond was unbreakable and he loved his children and grandchildren very much as well. Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Lee Jackson; children, Shirley Holmes, James, Jr., Albert “Ricky”, Johnnie “Butch” and Dorothy Jackson; granddaughter, Lynette Jackson; grandson, Larry Darden “Dee”; parents, Raymond and Millie Jackson; brothers, Raymond “RJ”, Samuel Jackson and George “Snok” Jackson; sister, Nellie Miles and best friends, Harry Browne and Carter Sample. Special thanks to his sister, Kate Alexander, two sons, Roger (Carol) Jackson and Larry Jackson and daughter, Mary Kennedy for all of your care, time, effort and unconditional love that was provided during James time of need. You are forever appreciated. Last but not least, special thanks to the Lewis Temple C.O.G.I.C. and A & D Home Health Service. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Avenue. Pastor Fred A. Lewis will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m.
