Jennie Mae Lee

Mrs. Jennie Mae Lee, our beloved mother and grandmother went home to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the blessed age of 93 years. She was born November 3, 1919 in Starkville, MS, the daughter of the late Billy and Eliza (Winston) Haines. Mrs. Lee was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church. She retired from the Malleable Iron Plant and was a member of the U.A.W. Local 455. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, baseball, watching the Detroit Tigers, bowling and spoiling everyone’s children. Her memory will be cherished by one daughter and three sons, Mary Frances Champion and Harold Joseph Lee, both of Saginaw, MI, Elliott Lee, Jr., Atlanta, GA and Frederick (Rhonda) Lee, St. Louis, MO; 12 grandchildren, Valerie (Roger Jones), Deborah (James), Kenneth (Renee), Jeanette, Cassandra (Shawn) Champion, Jamal Corley and Tammy Nash, all of Saginaw, MI, Michael Champion, Dallas, TX, Elliott and Tiesha Washington, both of Atlanta, GA, Frederick Lee, Jr. and Shater’ra Lee, both of St. Louis, MO; 19 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ola Mae Haines, St. Louis, MO; brother-in-law, Keith Pickenpack of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews, including the Haines, Tate, Williams and Lee families and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elliott Lee Sr.; brothers, Billy Jr, Jessie, James and Tom Haines; sister, Helen Tate; daughter, Paula Susan Lee; and son, Henry Pete-Toubo Nash. Trying to find the words to say, that can tell you how much Mrs. Jennie appreciated you in every way, the bonds, the laughs, the meals you shared, just know Mrs. Jennie really cared! In 93 years, it’s hard to call everyone by name, but she loved you all just the same. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 810 Cathay Street. Pastor Thomas J. London will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m., where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
