Mr. Jerry Moore

Jerry “Buzz” Moore was born on May 12, 1950, in Saginaw, MI., to the late Joe W. Moore and Marjell “Thompson” Moore. He passed away at the age of 76 years. He was baptized by Pastor Roosevelt Austin and became a member of Zion Baptist Church in 1962. Jerry graduated from Saginaw High School in 1968. He attended Delta Community College, completing studies in Landscape Design. Jerry joined the Marines in 1970 and received a National Defense Service Medal. Jerry then returned to Delta College, completing business courses, from 1972 - 1973. Jerry then began and became very proficient in his career in landscape and design. Jerry installed hundreds of irrigation systems for businesses, his mother’s home at 2946 Arlington, including Pastor Creflo Dollar. He was a subcontractor on Atlanta, Hartsville Airport; built a waterfall at the entrance to Guilford Forests, Atlanta, irrigation/landscaping, like the private garden, he designed for Atlanta Crowe’s Nest Megaplex owner, “LC” Crowe. Jerry engaged all the children in the family. Jerry possessed a singular ability to delve into their world, and make the time they spent with him unforgettable. Jerry never married, but lived in Atlanta for 15 years with the love of his life, Sylvia, while helping raise her three children. In 2012, Jerry returned from Atlanta to Saginaw, to take care of his aging mother, Marjell. He was joined by his brother Larry Moore, who retired in 2014, and the two of them lived in Saginaw, caring for their mother Marjell, until she passed in August 2023. Jerry’s hobbies included playing chess at which he became masterful; making bracelets and necklaces, and collecting African artifacts. Jerry was a math whiz, completing complex calculations, for his projects directly in his head. He was a very accomplished poker player. Jerry loved music, especially jazz, rap, and R&B in that order. Jerry “Buzz” Moore made his final transition on June 4th, 2026. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Joe W. Moore in 1987. His mother Marjell “Margie” Moore transitioned in August 2023 at the age of 95. Jerry leaves behind to celebrate his life journey, a large supporting cast of extended family: his devoted brother Larry L Moore, half-brothers, Joe and Bernard Moore, loving sisters, Lawanda Kinsey, Devette Moore, and Antoinette Robinson; step-sisters Annetta Gooden, Hazel Wells, Ida White, Kathy Roberson; step-brothers Frank Landingham and George Roberson (Muskegon); Aunt Elizabeth Thompson, grandson in Indiana, nieces, Ashaela Moore and Saniyah Moore; cousins Pastor Randy Sims, and family, Bernard and Carolyn Dixon, David and Nadia Dixon, and family, Patrica Pinner, Craig McAdams, Aric and Sara Thompson, Michelle, Kira and Krystal Thompson, Mike and Tracy Johnson & family, Keith and Dana Cistrunk and family, Jeffrey Thompson, Roger Sims, Camron Sims, Stephanie, Bullock, Joy, Debbie Ferguson, Cal Street, and a host of relatives, including cousins, neighbors and friends. Classmates, lifelong friends, David L. (Bozie) Smith, Paul Cahill, Atlanta, Cleveland Donald and Donald family, Raymond and Lynn Presley, Chester Surles, Bill Badger, Morris Lewis, David Allen, Debra Allen and family. Special acknowledgment to Jerry’s god-sisters Dorothy Townsel, Lela Bean, Gloria Blanchard, Deborah Sangster, Carrie Jackson, Annette Cousins, Bernard and Carolyn, David Dixon, and neighbors Charles and Debbie Baston for their unwavering support of Jerry over many long years; cousins, Roger, Camron Sims, Michelle, Kira for visitation; loving sisters Devette, Lawanda, and, Antoinette, for their visitation and comfort afforded Jerry. A major tribute to John Dingle, VA Hospital hospice for Jerry’s care and the Fisher House. An unending tribute to pastor Randy Sims, (Cuz), for his dedicated eulogizing of numerous family members over the years. Brother, Cuz, you are truly an inspiration to us all. Lastly, special thanks to the Evans & Browne’s staff for your attention to the needs, and services rendered, for Jerry and to our family, and those who sent tributes or condolences to the family during our time of bereavement. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2026, at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m. Minister Randy Cole Sims will officiate. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442. Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
