Mrs. Jocelyn Phillips-Stanley

Jocelyn Phillips-Stanley entered into peaceful, eternal rest on May 5, 2020 following a brief illness. “Joycee,” as she was called by her sisters and close friends, was born June 30, 1953 in Saginaw, Michigan to the proud parents of Madison G. and Lurline (Mack) Phillips. Joycee was the youngest of four daughters. She graduated from Saginaw High School, Class of 1971 and continued her education at Saginaw Valley University, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1975. She was joined in marriage in 2016 to Ronald E. Stanley, Sr. Joycee was a faithful employee of Wanigas Federal Credit Union for 42 years, retiring in January 2020. She worked most of her career there in collections. She was the Vice President of OPEIU 393 Union AFL-CIO and Chief Union Stewart at Wanigas. She was also a skilled contract negotiator. Joycee was a devout christian who loved our Lord and Savior with all her heart. She was a lifelong member of Corinthian Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Roy L. Manning. She played an active part in the music ministry, serving as past president of the Mass Choir, choir director, and vocal leader. She was also involved with the Wolverine Baptist State Convention, Wolverine Baptist Congress of Christian Education, Saginaw Valley District and District Choir, and the State Choir, as one of their choir directors. She was a member of Saginaw Valley Ministers Wives and Widows, and an Intercessor Prayer Warrior. She was a member of the Ladies of Pink and Green, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Before her call to glory, Joycee was in the process of starting a nonprofit ministry called “Total Women In Faith”. Joycee loved to travel with her sisters and devoted childhood friend Deborah Dunn Williams. Her travels have taken her to Italy, Spain, Egypt, Mexico, Hawaii, the Caribbean and throughout the United States. Her main hobby was shopping. Everyone knew Joycee was a fashion icon. She leaves to cherish her memory, Ronald E. Stanley,Sr.; her devoted sisters, Geraldine Phillips, Saginaw, Dr. Gwendolyn Phillips Valentine (William), DeLand, Florida, and Janet Faye Phillips, Saginaw; nieces, Felicia Phillips, Saginaw, Ivy Pate (Marvin), Nashville, TN; nephews, William (Billy) Valentine (Melissa), Seattle, WA; great-nieces and nephews, Billy Madison Valentine, Shakeila Valentine, Veronica Gilmore, Will Valentine, Keenan Smith, Lillian Valentine, Cecil Pate, Jr, and David Valentine; and great-great-nephew Lucas Drain. She also leaves her childhood friend of more than 60 years, Deborah Dunn Williams; four god-children, and a host of devoted friends and cousins too numerous to name. Joycee was preceded in death by her father, Madison G. Phillips; mother, Lurline Phillips; grandfather, Edward D. Mack; grandmother, Levonia Mack; grandfather, Ira Phillips; grandmother, Charlotte Phillips; aunts, Velma Coleman and Christina Washington. Friends may call at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N.
