Deacon John R. Hart Jr.

Deacon John R. Hart, Jr. passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Deacon John R. Hart, Jr. was born May 11, 1926 in Union City, TN, the son of John R. Hart, Sr. and Ola Belle (Williams) Hart. He passed away Sunday, October 18, 2015 at the age of 89 years. He graduated from Miles High School of Union City, TN as Salutatorian of his class. John was offered a medical scholarship, but turned it down. He did however except a scholarship to a mechanical school, because he wanted to become a mechanic. After he graduated he signed up for the Air Force in World War II. John worked as mechanic while working on the radio equipment on the planes. He was honorably discharged from the service, after which he started working making pies. John fell in love with Lena Elice Curry. He would ride his bike from Union City, TN to Humboldt, TN to see this girl who he finally married on October 25, 1948. They had two daughters, Frankie Elice and Johnnie Carolyn. Realizing he could not make enough money making pies, and through the encouraging words of Hurley Coleman, Sr., he brought his family to Saginaw, MI and got a job at Saginaw Malleable Iron Plant and Western Auto. They had three more daughters, Billie Joyce, Jacqueline Faye and Ruby Jean. He didn’t stop there because later John Allen Hart came into his life to carry on his legacy as a mechanic. “Give a man fish he’ll eat for a day, but teach him how to fish he’ll eat for a lifetime.” Deacon John R. Hart, Jr. joined Coleman Temple C.O.G.I.C under his Shepherd Hurley Coleman Sr. and continued to worship at World Outreach Campus with Dr. Hurley Coleman, Jr. Deacon John R. Hart, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory; three daughters, Johnnie Carolyn (Hart) Palmer, Jacqueline Faye (Michael) Phelps and Ruby Jean Hart; son, John Allen (Francis) Hart; grandchildren, John A. (Francis) Hart, Harrison Palmer III, Johnnie CE Palmer, Karrie Hart, Brittney Hart, Mario (Mary) Hart, Lena Hart and Timothy Hart; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Flora Haslett of Illinois, Doris Moore of Saginaw, MI and Ruby Jean (Hart) Townsend; brother, John Edward Hart, both of Charleston, MO; adopted brother, Deacon Moore of Saginaw; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including all the Deacons of World Outreach Campus. Deacon Hart was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Hart; his parents; two daughters, Frankie Elice and Billie Joyce; brother, James Thomas Hart. Last of all he leaves this to all of us “I’m learning how to lean and depend on Jesus, because I found out without him we cannot survive and Oh what a fellowship of love divine. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at World Outreach Campus, 2405 Bay Road. Pastor Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. where the family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.
