Ms. Joycia M. Mason

Joycia Marie Mason, a loving treasure of four children, transitioned to Eternity at the age of 64 in Saginaw, MI on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. She was born on March 10, 1955 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to James and Rose Ella Fort, who preceded her in transition. Joycia, affectionately known as Peaches, was a vibrant soul who loved to sing and read. She always loved to cook and was an aficionado of shopping. Joycia was also gifted with interior decorating and sewing. She worked in the Saginaw Public School system as a Media Specialist and Teacher’s Aide in order to help children open their horizons to wisdom and adventure. Joycia was a member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She was an inspiration to many and was genuine in helping others. Joycia will always be known for her infectious laugh and wittiness. Joycia leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, La Keisha (John) Todd Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN, La Jauana Mason and Quiana Mason, both of Saginaw, MI; a son, Quian Mason Sr. of Auburn, MI; spiritual son, La Mont Howard of Saginaw, MI, seven grandchildren, Tahquai-Alyce Mason of Tulsa, OK, QueShyra Mason, Quian Mason II, Santino Mason, Drai’Von Mason, Tai’Von Mason and Imahnie Mason, all of Saginaw, MI; spiritual grand-daughter, Sheresse Armstrong; three sisters, Dorothy Peacock of Columbia, MD, Rosie McZee of Saginaw, MI and Virginia Whitson of Apopka, FL; one brother, James (Macy) Fort Jr; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including a special friend, Willie L. Mason. Joycia was preceded in transition by her grand-daughter, Katrina Mason; parents, James and Rose Ella Fort Sr.; grand-parents, Jasper and Alberta Williford; aunts, Jean Price and Ezelle Phillips; uncles, Jasper Williford Jr. and Leo Williford; brother, Marshall Williford. The family of Joycia Mason would like to extend heartfelt gratitude and special thanks to the friends, faculty and staff of Great Lakes Pace of Saginaw. Saginaw Public School System and House of Hope AFC friends and staff. Memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 North Jefferson Avenue Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Tahquai' Alyce Mason will officiate.
