Juanita Harris

Passed away Friday, September 8, 2006 at the age of 80 years. Family hour will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 15, 2006 at Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 North 6th Street, with the funeral commencing at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Marvin T. Smith will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Browne's Mortuary, 441 North Jefferson Avenue, on Thursday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. God has called his angel home to be at rest. Mrs. Juanita Z. Harris went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 8, 2006. She was born September 10, 1925 in Eusley, Alabama. She came to Saginaw, Michigan in 1929. She united with the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 20 years, and engaged in directing craft classes as a part of Vacation Bible School and Mission Youth Classes. Mrs. Harris loved her community and was a dedicated member of many organizations: Mother's Club, Women's Progressive Club, and a Community Activist for the Saginaw County Committee on Aging. Her heart though, could be found in service to young people where she was involved with PTA's in the Saginaw Public Schools, and a 4-H Director. She excelled in her commitment to the Mitten-Bay Girl Scouts where she served as a Girl Scout leader, organizing and providing guidance and leadership to many girls and teenagers in our area to becoming a Council Member where she assisted in providing a focus for it's mission for over 25 years. Mrs. Juanita Harris is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Enoch Harris; son, Jeffrey Dale Harris, Sr.; step-son, Enoch Harris, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dale Harris, Jr. (Monique), "twin" Shantel D. Harris, Taheerah Brown (Lorenzo Reynolds), Terrance and Linda Harris, D'Laurence and Robert McCall, all of Saginaw, MI, and Keith Harris of San Diego, CA; great-granddaughter, Layiah Addison; great- grandson, Jeffrey D. Harris, III; great-niece, and nephew, Vanessa and Dennis Parker; her extended family, Earlie James, Eleanor Powell, Lucille Lyda, Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie Foster and family, Sis. Ringo and family, Rev. & Mrs. Larry Camel, Rhonda Payton and family, Mrs. Chapman, Mrs. Wells, Alma Miller, Mrs. Odessa Caver and Mrs. Betty A. Chaney; many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. Those who preceded her in death include her parents, Thomas and Rose Williams; son, Frankie Harris; and granddaughter, "twin" Shauntel B. Harris Jenkins. Her motto: "A good education is for real, but only what you do for Christ will last!".
