Ms. LaKisha McMurren

Lakisha Lashaun McMurren passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in Saginaw, Michigan at the age of 46 years. Our lives were blessed on April 28, 1979 when she was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Marcella Matthews and Curtis Thomas. She was a beautiful soul. Her nickname being “Sunshine” described her perfectly. The day doesn't begin or end without the sun. She was a warm soul with a shell only few had the honor of breaking to understand her. She dreamed of traveling the world and seeing all that there was to offer. She loved to sing and share the joys of melody with anyone who would let her. Once she started telling jokes you couldn’t help but laugh with her, until your stomach hurt and tears were in your eyes. Her laugh was an embodiment of her joy. Her goal was to become a Registered Nurse as she was previously certified as a Nursing Assistant in the early 2000’s. When it came to anyone she loved, “Sunshine” was a force to be reckoned with, she stood up for everyone who stood behind her. Her ray of sun came from the goofiness and love that flowed through her as she showed the confidence of a woman who never gave up. Lakisha was a multitude of things and will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Lakisha leaves to cherish her memory her life partner, Timothy Williams; daughter Tim’Mia Williams; parents, Marcella Mathew and Curtis Thomas; four sisters, Tasha McMurren, Patricia (Richard) Selleck, Gloria (Rick) Finkey, and Verna Linzey; two brothers, Wesley (Maria) Linzsey Jr. and Andre Barker; eleven nieces, La’Key’Shay, Nilah, Z’Mya, Amarijah, Preanna, Teresa, Aaliyah, Aalonah, Jamairi, Morgan, and Bailey; twelve nephews, Shavez, Cameron, Jordan, Johnny, Malcolm, Labron, Kah’Ron, Corey, Marcel, Andre Jr., Chancellor and Leland; many other relatives and friends including, special friends, Kiesha Brownlee, Naja Stubbs and Troy Catholic. Lakisha was preceded in death by step-father, Wesley Linzsey Sr.; sister, Ebony Thomas-Taylor; stepsister, Wesseria Brewer; cousin, Thurman McMurren and grandparents, Claudia Cooper, Quimtin McMurren, William Linzsey, and Corrine Linzsey. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025 at Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607. Pastor Craig Tatum will officiate. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
