Mr. Larry Gene Tate

Mr. Larry Gene Tate, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away suddenly on November 10, 2019 at his residence at the age of 65 years. Larry was born January 2, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of Jerry Tate, Sr. and Helen (Haines) Tate. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Emmanuel St. Mark’s Church under the leadership of Pastor Larry Cole, Sr. He was a hard worker. He was employed at Malleable Iron Plant General Motors Corp. until he became disabled, and a member of UAW Local #455. He loved his hats, beautiful cars and keeping his cars clean. Larry had a very witty sense of humor. He kept everyone that he came in contact with laughing. If you came in contact with him, you had better have at least $2.00 or $5.00 ready for him. He will truly be missed by family and friends. He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Shelona Brown (Jerome) Wilson, Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Ja’Quan Perry, Grand Rapids, MI, Jaliyah Brown, Ja’Nya Moore, Aariona and Shariona Smith, all of Saginaw, Michigan; one sister, Doris Ann (John) Murry; two brothers, Jerry Tate, Jr. and Charles Edward Tate; four nieces, Nakita Murray, Atlanta, GA, Natosha Murray, Detroit, MI, Nicole Murray, Saginaw, MI and Tanya (Anthony) Harrison; two nephews, John Murry, Jr. and Jerry Tate III; special cousins, Francis Champion, the entire Champion family and the Haines family; many other relatives and friends including, Marvin Castell and the entire Findley Street Area Neighbors and friends. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry, Sr. and Helen Tate; an uncle, Abdur-Rahim Rashada and an aunt, Jennie Lee. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Prince Of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 725 N. 24th Street, Saginaw, MI 48601. Host Pastor, Pastor Robert Corley, Jr. Pastor Ernest Reed will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 3210 S. Washington, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Friends may call at the Evans & Browne's Funeral Home, 441 N. Jefferson Ave. 48607 on Monday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. The family will be present to greet friends at 6:00 p.m.
