Prophetess Leona V. Glenn

Pastor/Prophetess Leona Viola (Aldridge) Glenn was born at Saginaw General Hospital on October 8, 1954. She was the youngest and smallest of the triplets, born to William Demone Aldridge, Sr., and Mary Viola Eugene (Erby) Aldridge. Leona V. Aldridge was baptized by her father, Reverend William D. Aldridge Sr., at a young age. She actively participated in church activities at Christ Community Church, including Sunday School, youth ushering, choir, youth, and gospel choirs. She also started teaching Sunday School at a young age. She attended Salina Elementary School, Webber Jr. High, and graduated from Saginaw High School in June 1972. She was a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, Michigan, majoring in Sociology while minoring in Black Studies.While attending EMU, she met the love of her life “James Leonard Glenn" of Detroit, Michigan. Her testimony in one of her university classes intrigued Mr. Glenn to want to know more about the Lord. This relationship blossomed into more than a bible study. Leona said, “The Lord said don’t let him fall away.” After dating for some time, she and James married on June 25, 1977. From this union, they were blessed with 5 children: Jacqueline, Jonathan, Patricia, Nathanael, and Jennifer. James and Leona Glenn moved to Saginaw, Michigan, and started attending The Christ Community Church. They were ordained as ministers during the New Year's Eve service of 1978. This led to them leading Bible studies, youth ministry, and Sunday school classes under the guidance of Reverend William Aldridge. James announced that he and his wife had been called by the Lord to establish their own ministry. Rev. Aldridge released them in 1982. Leona and James started home bible studies and eventually moved their services to the YMCA in 1984, then to 719 Emerson St in 1988, and finally to 4375 S. Washington in 1997, Saginaw, Michigan. Leona devoted her life to raising her own children and helping raise her sisters’ and friends' children. She would take them on bus rides to the library, and parks, and conducted daily bible studies with them. The children adored her and loved her homemade meals, which were always delicious. Pastor/Prophetess Leona Glenn was a Bible scholar, teacher, and preacher. If anyone wanted to learn about the Word, she was the go-to person- “a walking concordance.” Due to her love of reading, she developed a photographic memory and never forgot a word she read. She worked as a substitute teacher in Saginaw Public Schools. She sang with Family Affair and was the TCT Prayer Coordinator. She was also the first African American woman on Ask The Pastor. She served on the Houghton Jones Neighborhood Task Force for 10 years, was the program director for the 4-H Club, and was the Prayer Coordinator for the National Day of Prayer for many years. She was a member of Church Women United, co-founded the Summer Youth Program for the city of Saginaw, and was a member of Top Ladies of Distinction and Women's Aglow. She was the founder of the Worshipping Warriors Conference and Prayer Plus Ministry. Together Leona shared with her husband many church activities and seminars, including The Solid Rock Television Broadcast, The Solid Rock Bible Institute, Word Explosion Classes, Mayor’s Crime Task Force, Ezekiel Project, Northeast Ministerial Alliance, Eastside Ministers Initiative, City Rescue Mission, Eastside Soup Kitchen, Good Neighbors Mission, Saginaw Teen Challenge, Saginaw County Prison, Bancroft-Eddy Church Services, City-Wide Tent Festivals, Many Outreaches Evangelistic Projects, The Church of Saginaw, Michigan Council of Community Churches, Healthsource Church Services, Azusa Fellowship, and Network of Christian Churches. She leaves to cherish her memory, husband James Glenn (46 years), children: Jacqueline (Christopher) Jackson, Jonathan (Alice) Glenn, Patricia (Hubert) Brown; grandchildren: Dominique, Kenyana, Jaden, Christopher (Josiah), Zoe, Nathanael, Zaida, Hazel, Thaddeus, Viola, Jayden, A’nya, Nia, and Nailah; sisters: Joyce (Dr. Eugene) Seals, Carolyn (Terry) Pruitt, Mary McDonald, Demona (Glenn) Reed, William Aldridge, Audrey Parker; in-laws: Carol (Jimmie) Davis, Reginald (Alesia) Glenn and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members, special friend (Effie B. Bryant), and her God-mother, Mrs. Elsie McDaniel who loved her and will miss her greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents, William D. Aldridge, Sr., Mary Viola Eugene (Erby) Aldridge; sister, Ouida Aldridge; children Nathanael and Jennifer. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Majad Nader and the nursing staff from the Intensive Care Unit at Covenant Cooper for their exceptional care and support. Finally, special thanks are extended to Demona Reed (her triplet sister), and Primary Care Physician (niece) Dr. Delicia Pruitt for their unwavering love and dedicated care provided daily. The familiy will greet guests of Prophetess Glenn at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service commencing at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 23, 2023 at World Outreach Campus, 2405 Bay Road, Saginaw, MI 48602 Dr, Anthony Revis will preside. Apostle James Glenn will officiate with interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Bishop Hurley J. Coleman, Jr. Host Pastor. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Friday, from 2:00 until 7:00 p.m.
